Patent number: 8682759Abstract: A brokering system and method for providing an incentive to end users of petroleum fueled vehicles to make use of retrofit kits for existing IC engines which permit the use of hydrogen blended with fossil fuels without technically invading or modifying the engine or its intended purpose or application. End users of retrofitted vehicles are provided with discounted fuel costs at authorized refueling stations. The end user's savings include: a) a reduction in refueling charges since the vehicl's reliance on fossil fuel (which is displaced by hydrogen in the engine), and b) by the purchase of methanol which can be set at a lower cost per calorific equivalent than a barrel of oil while also earning emission offsets to be exchanged by the owner of the retrofitted engine for cash. These emission offsets can then be sold to end users/creators of carbon credits.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2008Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Inventor: David Lange

Publication number: 20130285784Abstract: An inductor includes an inductor body having a top surface and a first and second opposite end surfaces. There is a void through the inductor body between the first and second opposite end surfaces. A thermally stable resistive element positioned through the void and turned toward the top surface to forms surface mount terminals which can be used for Kelvin type sensing. Where the inductor body is formed of a ferrite, the inductor body includes a slot. The resistive element may be formed of a punched resistive strip and provide for a partial turn or multiple turns. The inductor may be formed of a distributed gap magnetic material formed around the resistive element. A method for manufacturing the inductor includes positioning an inductor body around a thermally stable resistive element such that terminals of the thermally stable resistive element extend from the inductor body.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 15, 2013Publication date: October 31, 2013Inventors: Thomas T. Hansen, Jerome J. Hoffman, Timothy Schafer, Nicholas J. Schade, David Lange, Clark Smith, Rod Brune

Publication number: 20130041053Abstract: Disclosed is a process for producing copolyesters with high levels of recycled content. Scrap or post-consumer poly(ethylene terephthalate) is depolymerized by methanolysis or glycolysis to produce a purified, recycled dimethyl terephthalate which can be repolymerized with 2 or more diols. The polyesters of this invention have physical properties and an appearance that is similar to polyesters prepared from virgin monomers. In addition to dimethyl terephthalate, the polyesters can be prepared from recycled ethylene glycol recovered from depolymerization of poly(ethylene terephthalate) and/or 1,4-cyclo-hexanedimethanol prepared by hydrogenation of recycled dimethyl terephthalate or recovered from depolymerized polyester mixtures.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Applicant: EASTMAN CHEMICAL COMPANYInventors: Thomas Joseph Pecorini, Eric Jon Moskala, David Lange, Robert William Seymour

Patent number: 7652464Abstract: An RF power detector having a wide dynamic range may comprise a chopping amplifier and is configured to detect pulsed high frequency RF signals. The chopping amplifier controlled by a bias current regulator amplifies and chops an RF signal by periodically enabling and disabling the amplifier according to a system clock. The chopped high frequency RF signal feeds a Schottky diode biased to operate in the square law region for weak signals. The Schottky diode voltage is tapped and high pass filtered. The voltage drives a logarithmic and linear converter. The converter outputs are summed to produce an output voltage that is a repeatable and stable monotonically increasing function of the RF power.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2007Date of Patent: January 26, 2010Assignee: ViaSat, Inc.Inventors: David Lang, Noel Lopez
