  • Publication number: 20240185070
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for training an action selection neural network. One of the methods includes receiving an observation characterizing a current state of the environment; determining a target network output for the observation by performing a look ahead search of possible future states of the environment starting from the current state until the environment reaches a possible future state that satisfies one or more termination criteria, wherein the look ahead search is guided by the neural network in accordance with current values of the network parameters; selecting an action to be performed by the agent in response to the observation using the target network output generated by performing the look ahead search; and storing, in an exploration history data store, the target network output in association with the observation for use in updating the current values of the network parameters.

  • Publication number: 20240182020
Abstract: An autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle can detect an imminent collision according to sensor data and responsively select an action or a sequence of actions to avoid the collision if avoidable, and to reduce or minimize the harm of the collision if unavoidable. An artificial intelligence model may be used to process the sensor data, detect the imminent collision, and select the collision avoidance action or actions, or the harm-reduction or harm-minimization action or actions. For example, when the collision is considered unavoidable, the vehicle may apply the brakes to reduce the vehicle's speed and therefore, the severity of the impact. When the collision is considered avoidable, the vehicle may automatically apply steering to avoid the potential collision, such as when the vehicle is departing a lane and may collide with a vehicle traveling in the same or opposite direction.

  • Publication number: 20240180580
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are operable to track usage of a surgical instrument and modify the performance of the surgical instrument based on the prior usage of the surgical instrument. Some surgical instruments are designed to have a limited service life beginning at their first use, or a limit to their overall usage in order to ensure safe use of the sensitive instruments. However, a lack of ability to track usage characteristics when the instrument is separated from an external power supply allows for user abuse and avoidance of such safety mechanisms. Adding a battery or capacitor to the instrument may allow for an ability to track usage when the instrument is separated from an external power supply. Implementing special user prompts, device use ratios, and device use half-life upon powering down of an instrument may additionally be used to prevent circumvention of safety features.

  • Publication number: 20240181414
Abstract: A filtration device for a down-flow catalytic hydroprocessing reactor is disclosed. The filtration device may be used in the petroleum and chemical processing industries in catalytic reactions of hydrocarbonaceous feedstocks in the presence of hydrogen, at an elevated temperature and pressure, to remove contaminants from mixed gas and liquid feedstreams to reactor catalyst beds. The filtration device may be provided as a horizontal tray installation at the top of a reactor, whereby feedstream liquid is passed through a filtration media in a radially inward direction from the wall of the reactor to the center of the filtration device and thereafter to the reactor catalyst bed. Among the benefits provided are the minimization of scale and small/fine particulates that reach the catalyst bed below the device, reduced pressure drop through the reactor, even when the filter is completely fouled, and the potential for added catalyst volume due to the reduced need to use catalyst grading materials.

  • Publication number: 20240184829
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for training and deployment of machine learning-based models that dynamically translate natural language to database query language, and include automation of training data generation, query representation language, and adaptive model training. A method for generating datasets for a natural language interface to a database includes a database query builder, which receives insights regarding the database, and based at least in part on the database insights builds a plurality of database queries. The method further includes generating a data distribution of natural language queries paired with corresponding database queries by, for each one of the plurality of database queries, pairing the database query to a natural language query and one or more paraphrases of the natural language query, and projecting the data distribution onto a plurality of segmented text distributions and applying one or more control signals to generate an optimal training data distribution.
