  • Publication number: 20100041364
Abstract: System(s) and method(s) are provided for a femto cell service framework for registration, activation, and provisioning of femtocell service. An account management service enables femtocell account creation, and registration thereof. Registration includes validation of wireless coverage for a location of operation of a femto AP, and validation of availability enhanced 911 (E911) service. As part of registration provisioning, record(s) are updated to indicate registration status. Connection of femto AP to a network interface triggers activation process; the femto AP delivers an activation request. A femto network validates registration of the connected femto AP and conducts a location tolerance check of a received actual location of the femto AP and a registered location. Upon tolerance validation, a cell identifier and radio frequency channel(s) are assigned to femto AP. When femto AP radiates wireless signal, network activation status indicators are provisioned.

  • Publication number: 20100039075
Abstract: Utilisation of a number of electrical machines such as generators all driven by a common prime mover, such as a gas turbine engine, are known. However, faults in one phase of one particular electrical machine may cause torque vibration and therefore stressing to mechanical linkages between the electrical machine and the prime mover. By determining torque vibration and then utilising a second electrical machine to introduce an anti-phase torque vibration a substantially balanced and steady torque loading to the mechanical linkages can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20100040380
Abstract: An optical correlation apparatus is described which forms first and second parallel optical signals in response to a serial input data stream. The first parallel optical signal is arranged to have bright pulses represent binary 1 and the second parallel optical signal is arranged to have bright pulses represent binary 0. A channel select means, such as an optical switch or amplitude modulators deselects or blocks channels in the first parallel optical signal which correspond to binary 1 in a reference data string and also deselects or blocks channels in the second parallel optical signal which correspond to binary 0 in the reference data string. The remaining optical signals are combined at one or more detectors. Where the input data matches the reference data string each bright pulse in the first and second parallel optical signals is deselected and the detector registers zero intensity. However when there is any mismatch at least one channel will pass a bright pulse to the detector.

  • Publication number: 20100043021
Abstract: Audience response to broadcast content can be gauged by determining how many audience members switched stations while particular programs were broadcast. Data indicating audience members' media consumption can be analyzed to determine the number of times audience members tuned to a station or tuned away from the station. Data related to media content broadcast on particular stations can be analyzed to determine what content was being broadcast at times corresponding to the times audience members switched stations. Performance factors can be assigned to particular programs based on this analysis. Determining how many audience members switched during any one program may include retrieving event records, each of which can represent an audience member that was tuned to a particular media station during a time a particular program was being aired.

  • Publication number: 20100037895
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining suitable settings for a servo-ventilator to be used during sleep. Respiratory characteristics of a patient are measured during an awake learning period. With these measured characteristics, a target ventilation setting may be calculated by alternative methods. • Publication number: 20100043059
Abstract: A method for using shared vulnerability to provide trusted communication services between systems is disclosed. For example, a server may deny access to a service which renders it vulnerable to an untrusted client unless access to a useful vulnerability is received from the client. That is, the server may trust the client because any misuse by the client may result in the server exploiting the shared vulnerability. A system may request access to a service on another system to perform some transaction. Upon receiving this request, the server may determine a vulnerability of the client useful in deterring or stopping unwanted actions. The server may request access to this vulnerability. Once this vulnerability has been granted to the server, the server may then grant access to the requested service to the client.

  • Publication number: 20100038260
Abstract: A method for electrode renewal, for use in an electrolytic processing chamber for a liquid therein wherein the processing includes, for a pair of electrodes in the chamber, placing a positive voltage on one electrode in the chamber and placing a like negative voltage on another electrode in the chamber. It has been common practice to reverse the voltage between these electrodes in order to re-dissolve the buildup thereon. Now, the present inventor has observed that a voltage passing through or across an electrode will cause some minor cavitations on the electrode surface between the contact junctures of the voltage, and apparently the cavitations results in the buildup there-on detaching in bulk; which is much faster than the heretofore known re-dissolve processes of electrode renewal.

  • Publication number: 20100038996
Abstract: A driving system in accordance with embodiments of the present invention includes a structure and a vibration system. The structure has at least one point to frictional couple to and drive a movable element in one of at least two directions. The structure also has at least two bending modes which each have a different resonant frequency. The vibration system applies two or more vibration signals which are at a vibration frequency to each of the bending modes of the structure. The vibration frequency is substantially the same as one of the resonant frequencies. At the vibration frequency one of the bending modes of the structure is vibrating substantially at resonance and the other of the bending modes of the structure is vibrating at partial resonance. The vibration system adjusts a phase shift between the two or more applied vibration signals to control which one of the at least two directions the moveable element is moved.
