  • Publication number: 20150320197
Abstract: A compact folding furniture piece constructed as a table is configured for convenient storage. The folding furniture piece comprises an object support assembly that is configured for operative connection to a mounting structure and includes a spring mechanism securing together as a flexible unit a support mount, an articulated vertebral column, and a table base. The spring mechanism exhibits flexibility properties such that the object support assembly assumes at rest an unfolded state and, in response to an externally applied bending force, assumes a folded state. In the unfolded state, the vertebral column is substantially straight to provide a closed support surface. In the folded state, the vertebral column is curved to provide a raised, open support surface on which an object can rest.

  • Patent number: 9119225
Abstract: A method includes automatically sending a request from a wireless access point to a configuration server during a power-up procedure for the wireless access point. The method includes receiving virtual private network tunnel parameters at the wireless access point from the configuration server in response to the request. The virtual private network tunnel parameters identify an access gateway. The method also includes establishing a virtual private network tunnel between the wireless access point and the centralized access gateway during the power-up procedure based on the virtual private network tunnel parameters. The virtual private network tunnel enables the wireless access point to provide one or more wireless devices access to a wide area network.

  • Patent number: 9118750
Abstract: A configurable modular communication device is composed of an information delivery module and an information input module that are matable to each other. The information delivery module is a single base unit that can work with a touchscreen keypad or a number of modular keypad or other information input attachments. The information input module enables a user to change the look of the modular communication device according to personal taste and enhances its functionality to fit the exact occasion and mode of use. The information delivery module acts on its own as the navigation key and provides on its display screen menu (including an on-screen touch sensing keypad) user access to all functionality including telephone, PDA (personal digital assistant), camera, clock, GPS, and MP3 music player. User-controlled navigation takes place on or in the vicinity of the display screen, whether by hard or soft key actuation.

  • Publication number: 20150222910
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for multiplexing a dynamic bit-rate video stream with an audio stream received by a client device in a manner that allows the resulting multiplexed stream to be played back without disruption, despite dynamic changes in the bit rate of the video stream that may occur. A content server may stream both a video stream and an audio stream to a client device for playback. The client device may multiplex the video and audio streams prior to them being presented to a playback engine for decoding and playback to a user.

  • Patent number: 9094905
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to facilitate the determination of the timing advances of each of a plurality of component carriers by triggering the determination of the timing advances in response to certain pre-defined events that are indicative of a need for the timing advance to be determined. A method may include determining that a pre-defined event has occurred and triggering a determination of a timing advance for a second component carrier relative to a timing advance of a first component carrier based upon occurrence of the predefined event. In this regard, both the component carriers are concurrently allocated to a mobile terminal. The method may also utilize the timing advance to synchronize communications on the second component carrier between the mobile terminal and a network. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product may also be provided.

  • Publication number: 20150205687
Abstract: In one embodiment, I/O operations may be swapped from an original storage unit to a replacement storage unit in a manner which can reduce or eliminate delays caused by copying of data from the original storage unit to the replacement storage unit. A point-in-time snap copy relationship between the original storage unit and the replacement storage unit of storage locations is established and I/O operations are swapped from the original storage unit to the replacement storage unit. The I/O operations are resumed, accessing the replacement storage unit instead of the original storage unit in the input/output operations issued by the at least one host. Other aspects are described.

  • Patent number: 9084476
Abstract: A portable, compact folding furniture piece (10) constructed as a seat or table is configured for convenient storage. The folding furniture piece comprises an object support assembly (24) that is configured for operative connection to a mounting structure (12) and includes a spring mechanism (40, 42) securing together as a flexible unit a support mount (36), an articulated vertebral column (26), and a support base (38). The spring mechanism exhibits flexibility properties such that the object support assembly assumes at rest an unfolded state and, in response to an externally applied bending force, assumes a folded state. In the unfolded state, the vertebral column is substantially straight to provide a closed support surface (44). In the folded state, the vertebral column is curved to provide a raised, open support surface on which an object can rest. Depending on the embodiment of the furniture piece, the object can be a person or thing.

  • Patent number: 9084195
Abstract: At least one of transmissions and receptions over allocated radio resources within a first timing advance group are synchronized using a first timer; and similar for allocated radio resources within a second timing advance group that are synchronized using a second timer. In response to determining that the first timer remains synchronized while the second timer is not synchronized with a radio network which has allocated the respective radio resources, a first procedure is followed for the case in which there is a primary component carrier within the second timing advance group and a different second procedure for the case in which there is no primary component carrier within the second timing advance group. In an exemplary embodiment, a message is sent to the radio network indicating that the second timer has expired. Various distinctions between the two procedures, and how the message is sent, are detailed for different embodiments.

  • Patent number: 9047998
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing radionuclides. According to the method, a target medium comprising at least a target nuclide material is irradiated in an irradiation zone with neutron irradiation. Radionuclides form in the target nuclide material as a result of the irradiation, and at least some of the formed radionuclides are ejected from the target nuclide material. The ejected radionuclides are then captured and collected in a carbon-based recoil capture material which does not have an empty cage structure at crystallographic level.

  • Patent number: 8948319
Abstract: A technique includes jointly demodulating a desired signal and an interfering signal of a received signal in response to a carrier-to-interference ratio estimate for the received signal being below a threshold level. The jointly demodulating is based on first channel impulse response coefficients associated with the desired signal and second channel impulse response coefficients associated with the interfering signal. The technique includes determining the first channel impulse response coefficients based on a first cross-correlation function between the received signal and a training sequence of the desired signal and determining the second channel impulse response coefficients based on a second cross-correlation function between the received signal and a training sequence of the interfering signal.

  • Patent number: 8903775
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program for using a heartbeat signal to maintain data consistency for writes to source storage copied to target storage. A copy relationship associates a source storage and target storage pair, wherein writes received at the source storage are transferred to the target storage. A determination is made whether a signal has been received from a system within a receive signal interval. A freeze operation is initiated to cease receiving writes at the source storage from an application in response to determining that the signal has not been received within the receive signal interval. A thaw operation is initiated to continue receiving write operations at the source storage from applications after a lapse of a freeze timeout in response to the freeze operation, wherein after the thaw operation, received writes completed at the source storage are not transferred to the target storage.
