  • Publication number: 20090104043
Abstract: An improved composition for and method of priming a concrete pump line is provided. The flowable composition comprises a solid particulate mixture and water, the particulate mixture being comprised of solvatable polymeric material preferably selected from a group consisting of polyacrylamide, polyacrylate and mixtures thereof; an organic complexing agent preferably of urea; and a buffering agent preferably of citric acid. The invention provides a flowable composition exhibiting improved coating and lubrication to the inner walls of a concrete line as it passes therethrough. The flowable composition mixes quickly with water to form a clear solution, hydrates quickly upon being mixed with water, and provides a composition for use in priming concrete pump lines that does not utilize cement or priming grout slurry.

  • Patent number: 7499241
Abstract: A media cartridge autoloader is disclosed. A rotary arm that operates a cartridge transporter is rotated in one direction to reach a reference position. With reference to the reference position, the rotary arm is rotated through a predetermined angle in the opposite direction to reach a position, which is defined as a home position. The rotary arm includes a flag array, and a non-flag section at an end of the flag array. A photo sensor detects the arrival of the rotary arm at the reference position in response to a detection of the non-flag section.

  • Publication number: 20090006428
Abstract: In one version of the present invention, a system to configure a storage server despite an out-of-service storage adapter includes a storage array and a pair of storage servers connected to the storage array via a corresponding pair of storage adapters. The storage servers may be configured to retrieve configuration metadata from the storage array during a system initialization sequence and communicate the configuration metadata to the other storage server in case one of the storage servers is blocked from accessing the storage array due to an out-of-service storage adapter. The storage servers may also be configured to share a processing load despite the out-of-service storage adapter. The configuration metadata may include a variety of definitions and control parameters such as rank definitions, volume definitions, logical subsystem definitions, mirroring parameters, remote archiving parameters, a rank segment table, and page pointer data.

  • Publication number: 20080320332
Abstract: An architecture for error log processing is provided. Each error log is given a defined priority and mapped to an error recovery procedure (ERP) to be run if the log is seen. The system has a plurality of software layers to process the errors. Each software layer processes the error independently. Errors are reported to a higher software stack when error recovery fails from the lower stack ERPs and recovery is non-transparent. If the system host identified for error processing fails, the control of the ERP is transferred during the failover process. Non-obvious failed component isolating ERPs are grouped to be run together to assist in isolating the failed component. Prioritization of the error systems may be based on a plurality of criteria. ERPs are assigned to run within a particular software stack.

  • Publication number: 20080256420
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for error checking addressable blocks in storage. Addressable blocks of data are stored in a storage in stripes, wherein each stripe includes a plurality of data blocks for one of the addressable blocks and at least one checksum block including checksum data derived from the data blocks for the addressable block. A write request is received to modify data in one of the addressable blocks. The write and updating the checksum are performed in the stripe having the modified addressable block. An indication is made to perform an error checking operation on the stripe for the modified addressable block in response to the write request, wherein the error checking operation reads the data blocks and the checksum in the stripe to determine if the checksum data is accurate. An error handling operation is initiated in response to determining that the checksum data is not accurate.

  • Publication number: 20080224419
Abstract: A sealing assembly for forming a seal about an elongate object includes a resilient seal member and a loading mechanism. The resilient seal member includes an inner wall surface defining a channel to receive the elongate object. The seal member has first and second opposed sides. The loading mechanism includes a first pressure member on the first side of the seal member; a second pressure member on the second side of the seal member; a biasing member on the second side of the seal member and interposed between the seal member and the second pressure member; and an adjustable displacement mechanism accessible and operable from the first side of the seal member to displace the first and second pressure members relative to one another to selectively apply a compressive load to the seal member such that the inner wall surface is expanded inwardly to exert a sealing pressure on the elongate object.

  • Patent number: 7416068
Abstract: Clutch control systems for a power take-off system of a vehicle, such as those employing all-wheel and four-wheel drive systems. The control system calculates the temperature of the clutch system, based on one or more vehicle operational parameters. If the clutch system reaches a pre-determined temperature limit, the control system selectively stops the operation of the clutch system until the clutch temperature drops below the pre-determined temperature limit. The control system includes an electronic control unit, e.g., a computer or microprocessor, that calculates and/or processes one or more vehicle operational parameters, including, but not limited to: (1) clutch input and output speeds; (2) slip across the clutch; (3) clutch torque; (4) current clutch power; (5) accumulated clutch power; (6) temperature delta (i.e., change) of the clutch; and (7) clutch temperature.

  • Patent number: 7415663
Abstract: Computerization has allowed branching and other logic to be integrated into questionnaire administration. The primary purpose of this invention is to allow the functionality and power of these processes to be easily created, and more importantly, customized by users of data collection systems. Rather than one set of logic applying to all users, this invention can be integrated into any computerized questionnaire application and generates a plurality of individualized questionnaires. The system allows and limits each user's customization of logic rules while providing transparent integration that allows different users to select the same questionnaire or battery of questionnaires, but receive overlapping, yet different questions and logic.

  • Patent number: 7355818
Abstract: A method for attaching a printed circuit card assembly to an actuator assembly in a disc drive comprises forming one or more pins integrally with the actuator assembly, inserting each pin through a corresponding pin opening in the printed circuit card assembly, and attaching the pins to the printed circuit card assembly. The pins may be attached to the printed circuit card assembly by a soldering process, or alternatively, pressure may be applied to a top surface of the pins to cause them to deform over the printed circuit card assembly, thereby securing the printed circuit card assembly to the actuator assembly. A disc drive in accordance with a preferred embodiment of this invention has an actuator assembly with one or more integral pins and a printed circuit card assembly attached to the integral pins.
