  • Publication number: 20130048787
Abstract: A steerable container delivery system (“CDS”) includes a pallet configured with inflatable fins for steering a CDS cargo bundle during free fall when airdropped. The inflatable fins are inflated shortly after deployment using compressed air carried by a tank in the pallet. A flight management computer (“FMS”) continuously monitors the location of the CDS bundle using GPS technology and determines a vector to a drop location based on stored GPS measurements. The FMC continuously monitors and positions the CDS bundle over the drop location, and is able to independently rotate the fins to control the position of the CDS bundle, either by rotating the CDS bundle or laterally moving it. At the appropriate altitude, the FMC causes the main parachute to open to slow the descent of the CDS bundle for impact.

  • Patent number: 8370715
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for error checking addressable blocks in storage. Addressable blocks of data are stored in a storage in stripes, wherein each stripe includes a plurality of data blocks for one of the addressable blocks and at least one checksum block including checksum data derived from the data blocks for the addressable block. A write request is received to modify data in one of the addressable blocks. The write and updating the checksum are performed in the stripe having the modified addressable block. An indication is made to perform an error checking operation on the stripe for the modified addressable block in response to the write request, wherein the error checking operation reads the data blocks and the checksum in the stripe to determine if the checksum data is accurate. An error handling operation is initiated in response to determining that the checksum data is not accurate.

  • Publication number: 20120233890
Abstract: A footwear system that is comprised of a shoe base that houses an interchangeable insert. The proposed system when assembled creates a completed shoe. Assembly can be accomplished via various attachment methods. Once attached the insert can also be removed from and placed into any of the different shoe-bases as desired. The insert is selected based on the user's foot size, comfort and support needs. A complete set of inserts which meet the majority of users sizes and foot structure types will be designed and available as part of the product line. The interchangeable nature allows the shoe base to be designed and styled in any number of ways, different uses, appearances, and configurations. The insert will be able to be interchanged from shoe to shoe such as closed shoe to an open shoe; like an athletic shoe to a heel or a dress shoe to a sandal and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 8121887
Abstract: A method of reporting on the quality of repair work performed on an article such as a vehicle including the steps of: (1) identifying occurrences of quality problems in repair of an article at a repair facility, (2) generating quality data on the occurrences of quality problems of step (a), (3) electronically transferring the quality data to a computer database, (4) sorting the quality data in the database and (5) producing a report of the sorted quality data. A system for practicing this method includes one or more repair shops in communication with a computer. Data on the insurance of quality problems during the repair of vehicles is transmitted from the repair shops to the computer which then sorts the quality data in the database and produces reports of assorted quality data to provide information to repair shops, insurance companies and manufacturers.
