Publication number: 20150066568Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for selecting one or more services and locations for performing a user-requested operation on a file. A user interface can be used to search for files by name, date, content, location, and/or other parameters. The search results can be derived from information stored in a local cache and presented as a list from which the user can select files and perform operations on the selection. The cache can include historical information about each service and location, including a previously observed monetary cost to perform the operation and/or a previously observed amount of time used to perform the operation. A weighted value associated with any given service can be computed based on the historical information in the local cache, the age of the historical information and a cost criterion. The list of services can be ordered by the weighted value.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2013Publication date: March 5, 2015Applicant: Adobe Systems IncorporatedInventor: David Rees

Patent number: 8690891Abstract: Apparatus, assemblies, and methods for capturing objects within a body are disclosed. A surgical snare device includes a steerable deflection portion with a steerable distal tip. An interface is linked to the steerable deflection portion to selectively manipulate the distal tip. A snare loop disposed at the distal tip can have a length that remains substantially constant as the distal tip is deflected and the snare loop moves in concert with the distal tip. The distal tip may deflect up to at least one-hundred eighty degrees, while the snare loop moves a corresponding amount. A method includes extending a snare through a body lumen and to a location near an object. The snare may have a loop that changes positions while maintaining the same length. The loop may be placed around an object and then used to retrieve the object from the body lumen.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2010Date of Patent: April 8, 2014Assignee: University of Utah Research FoundationInventors: Collin George Cowley, Creighton Ralph Petty, Alexander David Snyder, Andrew Steven Hansen, Tyler David Rees, Kristofer Langheinrich

Patent number: 7936079Abstract: A distributed system of electrical generators utilizing wind driven natural motion of trees includes pull-retract generators deriving torque from the back and forth swaying of neighboring trees and cables, wherein one set of cables acting as support and the other acting as a spring-tensioned flexible rack that drives the pinion gear of the pull-retract generator and also supports the pull-retract generator between the trees. The cables are attached to the pull-retract generators and provide the tension required to support and retract the pull-retract generator mechanism. Tree saddles attach the pull-retract generator cabling to the trees. As the trees sway independently the separations between the trees fluctuate periodically and the pull-retract generators convert these fluctuations into rotational forces that drive the generators.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2008Date of Patent: May 3, 2011Inventors: Howard David Rees, Michael J Faigen

Patent number: 6989790Abstract: A planar metal antenna mounted on a semiconductor body and incorporating an active circuit element, for example a diode, integrated in the path of the antenna. Connection between the antenna metal and a peripheral contact is provided by a connecting link of resistive sheet material sub-divided, by voids or by inclusions of high resistive material, into a number of conductive tracks each of width and spacing of dimension small compared with the width of the antenna. The link thus exhibits an effectively high sheet resistivity at high frequency—i.e. at a frequency at or near to the frequency of antenna resonance and thus affords effective hf isolation between the antenna and the contact. At the same time, at dc and at intermediate frequency, a relatively low resistance path is afforded for bias and for extraction of IF signal. The number, width and spacing of the tracks may be varied with distance from the antenna metal to minimize the dc resistivity.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1983Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: QinetiQ LimitedInventor: Huw David Rees
