Publication number: 20090302939Abstract: A power amplifier using a digitally pre-distorted compound semiconductor transistor is discussed. The amplifier has improved linearity. For a given gate bias voltage, there exists a drain voltage at which the drain current is the same for a pulsed signal as for a DC signal and is invariant to quiescent bias points occurring when a pulsed signal is applied. If an amplifier operates at this point, the trapping effects that lead to memory effects do not affect the dynamic behaviour of a digitally pre-distorted amplifier, resulting in improved linearity. The existence of this point, and it's benefits to the linearity of a digitally pre-distorted amplifier, have not been previously recognised.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2007Publication date: December 10, 2009Inventor: John David Rhodes

Each directional filter has at least two inputs and at least two outputs. The nth directional filter is arranged such that output signals O1 and O2 from the first and second outputs are related to input signals I1, I2 to the first and second inputs by the relation ( O 1 O 2 ) = ( R n ? ? 1 T n ? ? 2 T n ? ? 1 R n ? ? 2 ) ? ( I 1 I 2 ) with R and T being reflection and transmission functions respectively. The directional filters are connected in a cascade with the first and second inputs of the nth directional filter being connected to the first and second outputs of the (n?1)th directional filter respectively in the cascade.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 23, 2009Publication date: September 17, 2009Applicant: ISOTEK ELECTRONICS LIMITEDInventor: John David Rhodes

Publication number: 20090224833Abstract: An amplifier comprising a digitally pre-distorted Laterally Diffused Metal Oxide Semiconductor (LDMOS) transistor and a biassing circuit is described. The gate bias voltage defines an operating point of the LDMOS transistor such that the quiescent drain current of the LDMOS transistor is substantially invariant when an input signal of varying power is applied. The quiescent drain current is the drain current of the at least one LDMOS transistor when the input signal is instantaneously removed. Such an amplifier has reduced intermodulation products in its output for input signals of varying power levels. The intermodulation products are reduced for input signals of less than maximum power as well as maximum power.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2005Publication date: September 10, 2009Inventor: John David Rhodes

Patent number: 7436136Abstract: An anti-pinch control system is used to identify obstructions in a path of movement for a powered vehicle member, such as a vehicle window for example. A pinching area is identified for the vehicle window and at least one indicium or indicator is mounted to a vehicle structure to be in view of a camera. The indicium is positioned such that no object may pass into the pinching area without also passing between the camera and at least a portion of the indicium. The camera identifies an obstruction when any portion of the indicium is obscured. This indicium includes a plurality of predefined zones, with each zone being associated with an operational function, such as upward window movement, downward window movement, door locking, side mirror movement, etc. This eliminates the need for separate switches to perform each of these functions thereby reducing overall cost for a vehicle door system.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2006Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Assignee: ArvinMeritor Light Vehicle Systems - FranceInventor: Christopher David Rhodes
