  • Patent number: 6306198
Abstract: A method of separating and selectively removing hydrogen contaminant from hydrogen-containing product and by-product process streams is disclosed. Separation and removal occur when certain Cd containing zeolite, silica, alumina, carbon or clay compositions are placed in contact with a hydrogen-containing process stream. A hydrogen-encapsulated composition is formed by practice of the method. Also disclosed is a reversible storage method for hydrogen using the above-described compositions.

  • Patent number: 6126856
Abstract: When small amounts of zeolite or titanosilicates are added to thermotropic liquid crystalline aromatic polyester, poly(ester-amide) or poly(ester-imide) compositions, the compositions become less flammable. In many cases addition of the zeolite or titanosilicates does not significantly affect other properties of the composition, which may be used as molding resins, for instance to make parts useful in the electrical, electronic or automotive industry.

  • Patent number: 6103653
Abstract: This invention provides an attrition resistant catalyst composition and method for producing such composition. The catalyst is comprised of an acidic zeolite, rho or chabazite, and a particulate binder, kaolin, bentonite, alpha-alumina, or titania, which can be optionally modified by treatment with a compound containing Si, Al, P or B. This invention further provides a process for producing methylamines, preferably dimethylamine, comprising reacting methanol and/or dimethyl ether and ammonia in the presence of a catalytic amount of an attrition resistant catalyst of the invention.

  • Patent number: 6040486
Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing HCFC-133a which includes reacting certain trihaloethene starting materials (e.g., trichloroethene) with HF in the gaseous phase at an elevated temperature in the presence of certain supported metal catalysts containing effective amounts of zinc. A catalyst of metal fluoride on a fluorinated alumina support having an atomic ratio of F to Al of at least 2.7:1 and containing .beta.-aluminum fluoride, is employed.

  • Patent number: 5944876
Abstract: Novel Cd-exchanged rho compositions and compositions of zeolite rho encapsulated with hydrogen made therefrom are disclosed. The Cd-exchanged zeolite rho compositions are useful in separating and selectively removing hydrogen from hydrogen-containing process streams and storing the separated hydrogen therein. Encapsulation of hydrogen can be accomplished in large amounts even at pressures of 1 atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 5750808
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the dehydrohalogenation of partially halogenated ethanes of the formula C.sub.2 H.sub.a Cl.sub.b F.sub.c where a is an integer from 1 to 4, b is an integer from 0 to 3 and c is an integer form 1 to 5 to produce olefins selected from the group consisting of C.sub.2 H.sub.a-1 Cl.sub.b-1 F.sub.c and C.sub.2 H.sub.a-1 Cl.sub.b F.sub.c-1. The process involves contacting C.sub.2 H.sub.a Cl.sub.b F.sub.c with a zeolite selected from the group consisting of NaX and CsY.
