Publication number: 20080043736Abstract: A data transfer system and method allows data files to be transmitted from a user device through a private network and a public network to a destination server without requiring write permission at an intermediate server of the private network. A configurable segment of data is read from a file to be transmitted. A network message having a header and a data payload is then created and addressed to a destination server associated with a public network. The data segment is placed in the data payload of the network message. The network message is then sent over the private and public networks to the destination server. The process is repeated until the entire data file has been sent in a series of network messages to the destination server. The file is reconstructed at the destination server from the data segments in the series of received network messages.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2006Publication date: February 21, 2008Applicant: DRIVECAM, INC.Inventor: David Stanley

Patent number: 7307512Abstract: The coupler of the present invention couples data signals, such as broadband RF signals, to and from a power line. The coupler of one embodiment that is for use with overhead power lines includes a length of URD MV cable with the neutral conductor removed. Each end of the URD cable is communicatively coupled to the MV power line conductor a predetermined distance from other. The distance between the two connections points on the MV may be related to the wavelength of a carrier frequency used to communicate the data signals. The URD cable may also form part of a transformer to permit the passage of data signals while preventing the flow of the high voltage power signals through the coupler. The neutral semi-conductive jacket of the URD cable may be coupled to ground via a low frequency conductive path.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2005Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Current Technologies, LLCInventors: David Stanley Yaney, William O. Patent number: 7269894Abstract: The method and apparatus for drilling holes and optionally inserting fasteners of the present invention provide for efficiently drilling holes through a multiple-layer structure because the layers are securely held together during the drilling by an electromagnet and a clamp, each on opposite sides of the structure. The electromagnet and clamp hold the layers together so tightly that burrs do not form within the holes and debris does not accumulate between the layers and, therefore the layers do not have to be disassembled after drilling. In addition, the apparatus and method of the present invention provide for initially drilling the hole with a countersink and for inserting a fastener into the hole, through the electromagnet, immediately after drilling the hole, such that the hole does not have to be revisited after reassembly and drying of the sealant in order to drill a countersink and/or insert a fastener.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2003Date of Patent: September 18, 2007Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Arthur Day, Bruce David Stanley

Patent number: 7205284Abstract: Immunostimulatory polysaccharides can be preferentially extracted from food-grade microalgae using an aqueous ethanol extraction procedure. The resulting preparations exhibit extremely potent immunostimulatory activity. The preferential extraction of these immunostimulatory polysaccharides is dependent on the concentration of ethanol used and the extraction temperature. The most efficient conditions are 50% ethanol concentration at temperatures between 60° and 70° C. The isolated polysaccharide preparations are potentially useful as a botanical or pharmaceutical preparation to improve immune function.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2001Date of Patent: April 17, 2007Assignee: University of MississippiInventors: David Stanley Pasco, Nirmal Derek Pugh, Mahmoud ElSohly, Samir Ross, Nala Miazi ElSohly

Patent number: 7152082Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for forming an output impulse response function. The method includes the steps of creating an initial impulse response, and dividing the impulse response into a head portion and a tail portion. The tail portion is high pass filtered, and low frequency components of the head portion are boosted. The low frequency boosted and high pass filtered respective head and tail portions are then combined into a modified output impulse response, which can then be used to spatialize an audio signal by convolving it.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2001Date of Patent: December 19, 2006Assignee: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventor: David Stanley McGrath

Patent number: 7148776Abstract: The electromagnetic clamp and method includes an electromagnet and a clamping piece located on opposite sides of a structure to clamp the structure. The electromagnet attracts the clamping piece through the structure when the electromagnet is energized, such that the electromagnet and clamping piece exert force on the structure, and an operation, such as drilling and/or fastener installation, may be performed on the structure. The configuration of the electromagnet creates the force necessary to securely clamp the structure. The electromagnet includes a coil and a core, and the core of the electromagnet is located within a longitudinal aperture that extends through the coil. The smallest lateral dimension of the core is chosen to maximize the flux density between the core and the clamping piece. As such, the smallest lateral dimension of the electromagnet may be greater than the distance between the clamping piece and the electromagnet.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2003Date of Patent: December 12, 2006Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Arthur C.
