  • Patent number: 10013895
Abstract: A training device for training a user on the operation of an auto-injector that dispenses a medicament. A needle guard is slidable from a first extended position relative to a housing prior to operation of the training device, to a retracted position during operation of the training device, and to a second extended position after operation of the training device. An actuation assembly controls the movement of the needle guard from the retracted position to the second extended position. A lock locks the needle guard in the second extended position. A safety is proximate a proximal end of the housing and prevents movement of the needle guard from the first extended position to the retracted position in a storage position. The needle guard is moveable into the retracted position with the safety in an armed position. The safety resets the lock upon returning the safety to the storage position.

  • Patent number: 9966647
Abstract: A software defined antenna can include a light source and a photoconductive surface. The photoconductive surface can be two-dimensional or three-dimensional. A plurality of electrically isolated pixels can be embedded in the photoconductive surface. The antenna can further include a processor with computer software incorporated to manipulate the light source to selectively illuminate the surface matrix in a predetermined pattern. As the surface matrix becomes illuminated, the illuminated portion of the matrix surface electrically connects the pixels, resulting in the desired radiation pattern. The software can be manipulated to further manipulate the light source to change antenna frequency, gain and bandwidth parameters, as desired by the user. Similarly, the pixels can be selectively illuminated to cause a desired radiation pattern, such as circular, sector scan or raster patterns.

  • Patent number: 9715480
Abstract: A method for approximating the behavior of a periodic parameter of a time-domain device in response to a perturbation, the method comprising the following steps: collecting data points at discreet times, wherein each data point represents a measurement of the parameter; dividing the time domain into intervals, each given interval containing at least one data point sampled during the given interval; fitting a polynomial function to the data points of each interval such that each interval has a corresponding polynomial function that is time-centered on the interval's center point and that accurately describes the parameter behavior over that interval; and stitching together the polynomial functions piece-wise to create an analytic approximation of the behavior of the system parameter over the entire time domain.

  • Publication number: 20170135154
Abstract: A heater comprising: an outer tube having a first thermal expansion coefficient; an inner tube having a second thermal expansion coefficient that is less than the first thermal expansion coefficient, wherein the inner tube is disposed concentrically with the outer tube such that there is a space between the inner and outer tubes; a conductive powder disposed within the space between the inner and outer tubes; and two electrodes in electrical contact with the conductive powder such that when a potential is introduced between the electrodes, the conductive powder functions as a resistive heater whose resistance changes with temperature based on different degrees of thermal expansion of the inner and outer tubes.

  • Patent number: 9577633
Abstract: A DC voltage supply provides voltage. A time domain switched inertial capacitive sensor provides a thresholding variable capacitance based on the voltage. A second voltage supply provides a voltage, VDD. A logic inverter circuit has a logic inverter input and a logic inverter output, wherein the logic inverter circuit is supplied with VDD. A third voltage supply provides a second voltage, VCC. A time domain switched inertial capacitive sensor and the capacitor are arranged as a capacitive voltage divider between the DC voltage supply and the logic inverter circuit and so as to provide an input voltage Vin as an input signal to the logic inverter circuit. The logic inverter circuit outputs an output voltage, Vout, based on the input signal. The switch provides a bias voltage, Vbias, to the logic inverter circuit based on Vout such that the input signal is based on Vin and Vbias.
