  • Patent number: 9444896
Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to reinitiating an application on a target computing cloud and to evaluating potential target cloud computing systems. In one scenario, a computing system receives an indication that identifies a target cloud for application migration. The target cloud computing system includes a specified set of hardware and/or environment specifications, associated configuration settings and an assigned rating that indicates how well the application will perform on the target cloud computing system. The computing system determines that the application is to be reconfigured for compatibility with the target cloud computing system and reconfigures some or all of the application to comply with the hardware and/or environment specifications and configuration settings of the target cloud computing system.

  • Patent number: 9229771
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to bursting application portions to different types of cloud computing systems, managing distributed applications distributed over a plurality of different cloud types and to creating a cloud bursting target in a specified cloud. In one scenario, a computer system provides an indication of available cloud computing systems including at least a first and a second cloud computing system of different types. The computer system receives a selection indicating that a portion of a software application currently hosted on the first cloud computing system of the first type is to be bursted onto the second cloud computing system. The computer system then, in response to the selection, bursts the software application portion from the first cloud computing system of the first type to the second cloud computing system of the second, different type.

  • Patent number: 8713152
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to providing a structural diagram to collect user input data in a non-linear manner and to managing multiple distributed application models using a structural diagram. In one scenario, a computer system receives a user input specifying a distributed software application that is to be managed across various different computer systems. The computer system determines, based the specified distributed application, which nodes are to be displayed in a structural diagram, where the nodes of the structural diagram represent application properties for managing the specified distributed software application. The computer system then provides a structural diagram that displays the determined nodes. The nodes allow non-linear configuration of the specified application across the various computer systems.

  • Publication number: 20130283821
Abstract: A nacelle structure for a gas turbine engine assembly includes a fan case, an inlet, and a noise attenuation device. The fan case is configured to be disposed about a fan section of the gas turbine engine, which fan section has a diameter D. The inlet is attached to the fan case and extends axially forward of the fan case. A hilite of the inlet is spaced a distance L from a region in which the fan section is configured to be disposed. A ratio L/D is less than about 0.6. The noise attenuation structure covers a portion of an inner surface of the fan case and the inlet.

  • Patent number: 8444345
Abstract: A floatation collar for a sensor package forming part of a detection array comprises two halves that when joined together act as a protective casing that secures and orients a sensor package in an optimal configuration within a water column. The collar comprises a shell tilled with syntactic foam. The cellar top portion includes a series of projections strategically placed to protecting the sensor package transducers against mechanical damage. The base bottom portion of the collar is conical with an integral thimble to allow the collar to ride down and then emerge under a passing trawl net or other fishing lines or cables by presenting a smooth aspect and a secure means of tethering said unit to a bottom anchor.

  • Publication number: 20120228862
Abstract: An intermediate, temperature reducing flange is inserted between an external steam (process) connection flange and first pressure vessel, or outer shell of a turbine or a second pressure vessel, or inner shell of the turbine. The temperature reducing flange has an integral portion that is exposed to an internal turbine area that is at a lower temperature than the steam in the steam inlet port of the turbine. This portion provides for a cooling effect, thus isolating the outer shell of the turbine from the high temperature of the steam pipe. Isolating the highest temperature connections from the remainder of the outer shell allows use of lower cost alloys for the outer shell.
