  • Publication number: 20080291909
Abstract: Selectively modifying a message delivery requirement of a datagram message at an intermediary network node between an origin and a destination. A message delivery requirement is defined for a particular message. The message delivery guarantee defines how to transmit the particular message. A downgrading intent of the particular message is provided for the message at the origin. The downgrading intent of the particular message indicates that the message delivery requirement can be bypassed. The defined message delivery guarantee, the network delivery requirement, and the provided downgrading intent of the particular message are processed at the intermediate network node. The message delivery requirement of the particular message is ignored based on the provided downgrading intent. The message is delivered via a network protocol according to the provided downgrading intent.

  • Publication number: 20080294971
Abstract: Transforming portions of a message to a destination via a communication protocol. A message is received. It is detected whether the received message includes an encoded envelope. The encoded envelope includes a stack defining parameters including information for handling the received message in an original format. If the received message includes the encoded envelope, the defined parameters are transformed to coded parameters in a common format. The coded parameters express the same information for handling the received message in the communication protocol. The encoded envelope is encapsulated in the received message, and the received message in the common format is delivered to the destination. If the received message does not include an encoded envelope, coded parameters are generated in the common format for the received message by encoding addressing information from the received message. The received message having the coded parameters in the common format is delivered to the destination.

  • Patent number: 7421053
Abstract: Systems and methods for aligning the phase of a PLL with an incoming data signal. In one embodiment, when a data signal is received in a PLL, a phase perturbation signal is generated and injected into the PLL. The PLL then performs a phase alignment procedure to lock on to the received data signal. The phase perturbation signal is a damped sinusoidal oscillation that is injected into the PLL when each of a plurality of data packets is received. The perturbation signal has an amplitude sufficient to bump the PLL out of a quasi-stable state around 180 degrees out of phase with the incoming data signal, but is damped to less than a degree of phase shift within 30 ns of being injected.

  • Publication number: 20080160474
Abstract: A triple wing orthodontic bracket, bracket cover, and method of use is disclosed. The bracket has a slot liner for reducing friction between an archwire and the bracket, wherein the liner is flared at its ends. The bracket cover has: a rod-shaped hinge for rotating in recesses between a bracket base, and bracket wings on one of a gingival and occlusal bracket side, a slot cover, and a cross member for rotating the slot cover between covering a bracket archwire slot, and uncovering the slot, wherein the rotation pivots the hinge in the recesses. The hinge and recesses frictionally engage one another, wherein in a first position, the hinge attaches and detaches from the bracket, and after pivoting the hinge to another position in the recesses, the hinge is secured therein. Interaction between the hinge and the recesses may cause the slot cover to move to cover the slot.

  • Patent number: 7272309
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for routing optical data. In one embodiment of the present invention, data can routed in a non-blocking fashion from a plurality of the ingress edge units to a plurality of egress edge units by selectively connecting the ingress edge units to the egress edge units at a photonic core. Switching at the photonic core can be driven by a clock signal and does not require an electrical to optical conversion to occur at the core. This can allow switching on the nanosecond level, substantially faster than many prior art systems.
