  • Patent number: 10963921
Abstract: An online system receives information describing actions performed by individuals and identifies online system users included among these individuals. Based on the actions they have performed, the users are assigned to sequentially ordered stages of a classification scheme associated with a content-providing user of the online system. The online system receives content items associated with different stages from the content-providing user, in which content items associated with a stage may be presented to users assigned to the stage. The online system may determine an expected return value associated with each stage and an expected advancement value associated with advancement of users assigned to each stage to succeeding stages of the classification scheme. The online system also may determine a value associated with a content item based on a comprehensive value received from the content-providing user, the expected advancement value, and a predicted likelihood of user advancement to a succeeding stage.

  • Publication number: 20210088026
Abstract: A tip structure may be arranged for example on a rotor blade (12) of a HAWT (10). The tip structure comprises a pressure side structure (50) arranged on a pressure side (43) of the blade, and a suction side structure (60) arranged on a suction side (44) of the blade (12). The pressure side and suction side structures (50, 60) have different pitch angles (?P, ?S) so that the chord (CP2) of the pressure side structure (50) extends forwardly in the direction of motion (D) and relatively more radially outwardly away from the blade root, or less radially inwardly towards the blade root, than the chord (CS2) of the suction side structure (60), defining a relative twist angle (?T) between the two structures (50, 60).

  • Patent number: 10860489
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for designing cache compression algorithms that control how data in caches are compressed. The techniques generate a custom “byte select algorithm” by applying repeated transforms applied to an initial compression algorithm until a set of suitability criteria is met. The suitability criteria include that the “cost” is below a threshold and that a metadata constraint is met. The “cost” is the number of blocks that can be compressed by an algorithm as compared with the “ideal” algorithm. The metadata constraint is the number of bits required for metadata.

  • Publication number: 20200379820
Abstract: A technique for synchronizing workgroups is provided. Multiple workgroups execute a wait instruction that specifies a condition variable and a condition. A workgroup scheduler stops execution of a workgroup that executes a wait instruction and an advanced controller begins monitoring the condition variable. In response to the advanced controller detecting that the condition is met, the workgroup scheduler determines whether there is a high contention scenario, which occurs when the wait instruction is part of a mutual exclusion synchronization primitive and is detected by determining that there is a low number of updates to the condition variable prior to detecting that the condition has been met. In a high contention scenario, the workgroup scheduler wakes up one workgroup and schedules another workgroup to be woken up at a time in the future. In a non-contention scenario, more than one workgroup can be woken up at the same time.

  • Patent number: 10846481
Abstract: Presented here is a system and method to bridge the gap between the disparate platforms, and to allow the user to interface with the disparate platforms using a natural language interface. The system can improve user interface for electronic devices because the user does not have to switch between the disparate platforms. Instead, the user can interact with the disparate platforms through a single natural language interface. The disparate platforms, some of which may not have a natural language user interface, can be enabled to interact with the user through the natural language interface when the system interfaces between a natural language processing platform and the remainder of the disparate platforms.

  • Patent number: 10824551
Abstract: Methods for transfer of bulk data from a leader device to a follower device over a bus are described. The methods employ address frames and write frames. The bus, the address frames, and the write frames are compatible with Clause 45 of IEEE Std 802.3-2015. The methods achieve a reduction in the number of frames employed to transfer data as contrasted with conventional indirect write transactions. After transmitting on a Management Data Input/Output (MDIO) data signal an address frame that specifies the follower device and that contains the address of an initial register, the leader device proceeds to transmit on the MDIO data signal multiple write frames that specify the target follower device, the multiple write frames transmitted one at a time, each write frame containing a different block of the bulk data. A follower device implements a post-write-increment-address action, despite the absence of any definition in Clause 45 of IEEE Std 802.3-2015 of a post-write-increment-address frame.

  • Patent number: 10803413
Abstract: A provider network is configured to provide continuous workflow service for an open-ended number of workflows using non-persistent threads. The provider network includes a workflow translator service configured to receive workflows defined according to multiple workflow domain specific languages and translate the received workflows into a particular domain specific language used by the workflow service to execute workflows. In some cases, the provider network includes a workflow handling service and a workflow evaluation service. The workflow handling service may receive indications of task completion events related to respective workflows, and in turn may send non-blocking requests for workflow decisions from the workflow evaluation service. In generating a workflow decision, the workflow evaluation service may determine resources for executing a workflow.

  • Patent number: 10795717
Abstract: Embodiments relate to hypervisors that provide hardware isolated virtualization environments (HIVEs) such as containers and virtual machines (VMs). A first HIVE includes a first virtual network interface card (NIC) and a second HIVE includes a second virtual NIC. Both virtual NICs are backed by the same physical NIC. The physical NIC has an Internet Protocol (IP) address. The virtual NICs are assigned the same IP address as the physical NIC. A networking stack of the hypervisor receives inbound packets addressed to the IP address. The networking stack steers the inbound packets to the virtual NICs according to tuples of the inbound packets. Packets emitted by the virtual NICs comprise the IP address, pass through the network stack, and are transmitted by the physical NIC with headers comprising the IP address.

  • Publication number: 20200267379
Abstract: Embodiments allow one or more viewers of a display to see images. The images viewed by the glasses may be based on the orientation of the glasses, so that the images correspond to the user's viewpoint. Different images may be presented to left and right eyes for 3D stereoscopic viewing. The position and orientation of the glasses may be tracked by analyzing images from one or more cameras observing the glasses. Glasses may have distinct geometric shapes or features, such as circular lenses, rims, regions around the lenses, patterns, or patterns of recognizable blobs, to facilitate tracking. One or more regions of the glasses may be illuminated by self-contained or reflected light, to facilitate tracking under various ambient lighting conditions. The lenses of the glasses may have selective barriers such as anaglyph filters, polarizing filters, and shutters, to select images from the display. Glasses may also be used as pointing devices to select and manipulate 3D objects.

  • Patent number: 10713165
Abstract: A high-bandwidth adaptive cache reduces unnecessary cache accesses by providing a laundry counter indicating whether a given adaptive cache region has any dirty frames to allow write-back without a preparatory adaptive cache read. An optional laundry list allows the preparatory adaptive cache read to also be avoided if the tags of the data being written back match all tags of the data in the adaptive cache that is dirty.
