  • Publication number: 20030149893
Abstract: A method and system for providing security protection to Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) objects located on a server. An EJB shadow object is created for the CORBA object. The EJB shadow object invokes an EJB security mechanism on behalf of the CORBA object, thus protecting the CORBA object from unauthorized object requesters. In a preferred embodiment, requesters are categorized and identified by their roles in the enterprise. Only those requesters having a proper role are authorized to access the requested object.

  • Publication number: 20030145237
Abstract: A method and system to allow multiple users of a client computer to establish a secure connection for each of the multiple users between the client computer and a server computer. Each user is allowed to unlock a keyfile unique to that user. The unique keyfile is able to authenticate the user's identity to the server computer. Access to the users unique keyfile is accomplished by the user inputting into the client computer a unique user password for the user's unique keyfile. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) is provided to allow the user to input the unique user password for that user's unique keyfile. Upon input of the password, the selected keyfile is opened to enable a user authentication process to authenticate the user's identity to the server computer, thus creating an authenticated secure connection between the server computer and the client computer for the specific user.

  • Publication number: 20030131110
Abstract: A system and method for concurrent security connections is presented. An association table is used that includes a list of active credentials. An active credential includes information such as user id and password information for a given domain. The active credential may also include dynamic data that is retrieved from a user, such as a pseudo-random code or a fingerprint scan. The active credential is sent to a domain, or the managing server of the domain, when domain access is requested. This access request does not involve the user of the client unless dynamic input data is requested.

  • Publication number: 20030130980
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for migrating configuration data from an existing program to a replacement program, in response, for example, to a command by an external agent. In preferred embodiments, an existing program is modified according to the invention to add functionality to obtain pertinent configuration data from such sources available to the existing program as its internal tables, configuration files, and run-time commands, and then to write a configuration file containing configuration data formatted for use by the replacement program. The program's internal tables may often contain configuration data which is not always available to the replacement program e.g. command line parameters, data provided through receipt of messages from other programs, etc. The invention advantageously makes voluminous formatted configuration data available to the replacement program in order to expeditiously provide a basis for its initial operation after installation.

  • Publication number: 20020145612
Abstract: A method and system for minimizing an amount of data needed to test data against subarea boundaries in spatially composited digital video. Spatial compositing uses a graphics unit or pipeline to render a portion (subarea) of each overall frame of digital video images. This reduces the amount of data that each processor must act on and increases the rate at which an overall frame is rendered. Optimization of spatial compositing depends on balancing the processing load among the different pipelines. The processing load typically is direct function of the size of a given subarea and a function of the rendering complexity for objects within this subarea. Load balancing strives to measure these variables and adjust, from frame to frame, the number, sizes, and positions of the subareas. The cost of this approach is the necessity to communicate, in conjunction with each frame, the graphics data that will be rendered. Graphics data for a frame is composed of geometry chunks.

  • Publication number: 20020123252
Abstract: A contact structure for establishing electrical connection with contact targets. The contact structure is formed of a contactor carrier and a plurality of contactors attached to a contactor adapter. The contactor adapter is inserted in a slot of the contactor carrier, thereby locking the contactors on the contactor carrier. • Patent number: 6397383
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for parsing a constraint language in a computer network. The method includes receiving a constraint string; parsing the constraint string, comprising replacement of valid operators, variables, and values with special characters; and determining if the parsed constraint string indicates the existence of errors in the constraint string. The parser of the present invention is based upon an analysis of the constraint language from which patterns of the language are identified. The easily implemented parser of the present invention is developed based on these patterns. Because the method of the present invention replaces members of a finite set of valid operators, variables, and values, instead of attempting to identify an infinite number of possible errors, it is able to detect all invalid constraints.
