  • Patent number: 9185579
Abstract: A network device receives probe packets communicated by a user equipment device. The network device communicates response packets back to the user equipment device, including timestamps, and/or other information. The user equipment device may be configured to test the performance of different portions of a wireless network (i.e., determine an available bandwidth measurement throughput (ABMT) of the wireless network) by accessing different network devices (or information associated with different network devices).

  • Patent number: 9179858
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of a system and method can be provided for measuring a level and/or details of how engaging, effective or memorable a stimulus that may be based on information associated with one or more subjects' neuronal, physiological and/or behavioral responses to the stimulus. In addition, an exemplary embodiment of a computer-accessible medium containing executable instructions thereon can also be provided which can be executed by a processing arrangement. For example, when the processing arrangement executes the instructions, the processing arrangement can be configured to, e.g., receive neuronal, physiological and/or behavioral data one or more subjects being presented with stimuli, determine further data associated with a measure of inter-subject similarity of the neuronal, physiological and/or behavioral data, and identify particular portions of the stimuli that meet a pre-determined criteria relating to the further data associated with the measure of inter-subject similarity.

  • Patent number: 9183653
Abstract: A graphical manipulation tool to create and/or make modifications to a graphical object suitable for visually representing data. The graphical manipulation tool analyzes the graphical object to determine parameters of visual characteristics of the graphical object that can be used to visually represent data. A computing system, through the graphical manipulation tool, may generate metadata that defines a capacity for visual characteristics to represent data. In some cases, a preview is displayed on a user interface indicating to a user how the metadata, if incorporated with the graphical object, may result in the visual characteristics of the graphical object being used to visually represent data. If incorporating the metadata with the graphical object is desirable, the user may provide to include the additional metadata with the graphical object.

  • Patent number: 9183822
Abstract: Methods, devices, systems, and computer programs are presented for providing music while exercising. One method includes an operation for receiving a request for a music segment from a computing device. The request includes the pace of exercise of a user associated with the computing device. The music segment is selected based on the pace, and the music segment is modified to correlate the tempo of the music segment to the pace of exercise. The modified music segment is sent to the computing device to be played in one or more speakers to provide music that is correlated to the exercise.

  • Patent number: 9183121
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques to receive configuration instructions for elements of a network topology to be simulated and tested. In response to receiving and in accordance with the configuration instructions, a plurality of software images (for a plurality of virtual network elements of the network topology) are configured via an Application Programming Interface (API). The plurality of software images run in a cloud host. In response to receiving and in accordance with the configuration instructions, data is configured via the API, which represents one or more connections between the virtual network elements. A plurality of software images for the plurality of virtual network elements is then executed in accordance with the data representing the connections, for development and testing of the network topology.

  • Patent number: 9183312
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for displaying search results referencing resources of two different types. In an aspect, a search system receives a search query for a search of a first resources. The search system determines a second resource score for the search query. The second resource score is measure of relatedness of the query to the second resources and is independent of a search property ratio of the query. If the second resource score meets a threshold, then the search system conducts a full search of second resources in addition to the search of the first resources.

  • Patent number: 9185639
Abstract: A system and method of assisting a radio in finding a network is presented. A method first detects existing nodes. A message is received on a slow communication link in a slow network from a new node. One or more existing nodes are found that may connect to new node with a fast communication link in a fast network. The fast network has a data rate that is faster than the slow network. A message is transmitted over the slow network to the new node to provide the new node possible existing nodes that are near it that it may connect to. Based on that message the new node establishes a fast communications link on the fast network between the new node and an existing node. The fast communications link can be a directional link.

  • Patent number: 9183594
Abstract: An automated safety notification system is proposed herein in which one or more safe zone access points may be physically deployed to one or more safe zones associated with a disaster area. If a person with a mobile phone or other mobile device enters the safe zone, the safe zone access point may detect the presence of the mobile device and perform certain functions in response to the detection. For example, the safe zone access point may initiate contact of a predetermined plurality of contacts that the person may have already designated before the disaster. The safe zone access point may also be used to initiate an insurance claim.

  • Patent number: 9185206
Abstract: A method and system for collecting and verifying the location information of a calling party and a device of the calling party is provided. More specifically, a method and system is provided for determining whether the identity of the calling party can be confirmed, via evaluating location information, with an acceptable degree of certainty. The location information may be provided by the calling party or obtained from various sources over a digital communication channel. Some of the provided location information which can be accidentally or intentionally altered is identified and evaluated to determine its accuracy as part of the verification process of the caller's identity.

  • Patent number: 9182717
Abstract: Image recording devices, such as electrophotographic devices, laser printers, copiers, and fax machines, often have a cartridge that utilizes an encoder wheel assembly in addition to or instead of a chip for determining toner load. It may be desirable to alter the encoder wheel or part of the cartridge, either by the printer or the cartridge, to permit a deliberate end of life function situation that requires the replacement of the cartridge, encoder wheel, or encoder wheel assembly components. This thereby controls the remanufacture or replacement of the toner cartridge in a way that is desirable to the manufacturer and prevents unauthorized refilling of the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 9184022
Abstract: A modulated-bending recirculating system that avoids CSR-driven breakdown in emittance compensation by redistributing the bending along the beamline. The modulated-bending recirculating system includes a) larger angles of bending in initial FODO cells, thereby enhancing the impact of CSR early on in the beam line while the bunch is long, and 2) a decreased bending angle in the final FODO cells, reducing the effect of CSR while the bunch is short. The invention describes a method for controlling the effects of CSR during recirculation and bunch compression including a) correcting chromatic aberrations, b) correcting lattice and CSR-induced curvature in the longitudinal phase space by compensating T566, and c) using lattice perturbations to compensate obvious linear correlations x-dp/p and x?-dp/p.

  • Patent number: 9180347
Abstract: A golf ball comprising a single layer core formed from a substantially homogenous formulation and comprising a geometric center and an outer surface; a hardness of the outer surface is greater than a hardness of the geometric center. An inner core region is disposed about the geometric center and has a first hardness that is less than those of the geometric center and the outer surface; an outer core region is adjacent the outer surface and has a second hardness that is greater than those of the geometric center and the outer surface; and an intermediate core region is disposed between the inner and outer core regions and extends radially from about 5 mm to about 15.75 mm from the geometric center and has at least a third hardness and a fourth hardness, each of which are related to the first hardness and the second hardness in various ways.
