  • Publication number: 20130218301
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to apply multiple trip limits to a device in a process control system are disclosed. An example method involves monitoring a value of a parameter associated with the operation of the device and receiving an input indicative of an operational state of the device, where a first input indicates a first operational state and a second input indicates a second operational state. If the first input is received, comparing via a function block the value of the parameter to a first trip limit, and if the second input is received, comparing via the function block the value of the parameter to a second trip limit, and implementing a response based on the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20130214698
Abstract: The invention provides a user interaction system (100) and a method of controlling a lighting system. The user interaction system (100) comprises a display (106), a means for receiving a location indication (102), a location identification means (104) and an overlay image creator (108). The display (106) displays a subarea image and an overlay image. The subarea image is an image of a specific subarea of the environment. The location identification means (104) detects which specific location in the environment is indicated by the location indication. The overlay image creator (108) generates the overlay image. The overlay image comprises information related to a lighting effect which is obtainable by the lighting system at the specific location. The obtainable effect is an effect of at least two controllable light sources of the lighting system.

  • Publication number: 20130215141
Abstract: A technique for optimizing the rendering of such complex render-graphs caches intermediate buffers of nodes that are expected to be re-used after they've been rendered. The render-graph is examined to determine the number of re-uses of each node's output buffer, and the buffer is cached in memory until all the re-uses of the buffer have occurred. Once all the re-uses of the buffer have occurred, the buffer is removed from the cache. This technique guarantees that for a given render-graph, no nodes will be re-rendered, resulting in improved render performance.

  • Publication number: 20130218638
Abstract: A media engagement system determines engagement scores for media vehicles across multiple media channels. The engagements scores for a media vehicle comprise multiple dimension scores indicating various aspects of engagement for that particular media vehicle. The dimension scores may be related to inspirational, trustworthy, life enhancing, social interaction, personal timeout, and ad attention/receptivity engagement dimensions, for example. The dimensions scores associated with respective engagement dimensions are based on responses to specific statements in engagement surveys completed by multiple media consumers. Thus, each statement in the engagement survey is associated with at least one engagement dimension and the engagement dimension score is then calculated based on media consumer responses to the statements associated with the respective engagement dimension.

  • Publication number: 20130214275
Abstract: Disclosed are a transistor (e.g., bipolar junction transistor (BJT) or a heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT)) and a method of forming the transistor with a narrow in-substrate collector region for reduced base-collector junction capacitance. The transistor has, within a substrate, a collector region positioned laterally adjacent to a trench isolation region. A relatively thin seed layer covers the trench isolation region and collector region. This seed layer has a monocrystalline center, which is aligned above and wider than the collector region (e.g., due to a solid phase epitaxy regrowth process), and a polycrystalline outer section. An intrinsic base layer is epitaxially deposited on the seed layer such that it similarly has a monocrystalline center section that is aligned above and wider than the collector region. An extrinsic base layer is the intrinsic base layer and has a monocrystalline extrinsic base-to-intrinsic base link-up region that is offset vertically from the collector region.

  • Publication number: 20130218640
Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for managing an entity's social graph including integration between advertising network management, social customer relationship management (CRM), and social media management. The system can include a social engagement engine for analyzing data from both CRM systems and advertising monitoring and management systems. The social engagement engine can be configured to segment the received data and discover insights into the social graph describing the entity's contacts. Insights developed from advertising, CRM data, and third party data can then be used to optimize advertising strategies. In some examples, the insights into an entity's connections can be used to optimize CRM strategies. CRM strategies can be employed to strengthen ties to existing customers, identify valuable customers, and recapture lost customers by delivering offers and/or opportunities to customers.

  • Publication number: 20130216673
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling the movement of liquids into and out of a container is described. The cleanable, portable, fully automated apparatus includes a main container for holding the food product, a liquid inlet container having a liquid inlet and inlet valve for controllably providing liquid into the main container and a liquid outlet container receiving liquid drained from the main container. A heater automatically heats the main container and a motor rotates or otherwise moves the main container and a receiving position for receiving fresh liquid from the inlet container to a drainage position for draining waste liquid via gravity from the main container into the outlet container. This rotation/movement of the main container can be used repeatedly to add fresh liquid and remove waste liquid during multiple fully automated cycles (e.g., sprouting, rinsing, soaking, cooking, etc.) that do not require user interaction.

  • Publication number: 20130216996
Abstract: Grafting M13 bacteriophage into an array of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) nanowires generated hybrids of conducting polymers and replicable genetic packages (rgps) such as viruses. The incorporation of rgps into the polymeric backbone of PEDOT occurs during electropolymerization via lithographically patterned nanowire electrodeposition (LPNE). The resultant arrays of rgps-PEDOT nanowires enable real-time, reagent-free electrochemical biosensing of analytes in physiologically relevant buffers.
