Abstract: A method of fabricating an optical fiber, the method including providing a core portion including a doped portion having greater than or equal to 1.6 wt. % of a halide dopant and eliminating seed precursor sites at an exterior surface of the core portion, the seed precursor sites forming seeds in the optical fiber, wherein the eliminating the seed precursor sites includes one or more of: (i) fabricating the core portion by densifying an exterior portion of a silica soot body prior to exposing the silica soot body to the halide dopant, and (ii) exposing the exterior surface of the core portion to a reactive etchant. The method further including forming an optical fiber preform by applying cladding material to the exterior surface of the core portion and drawing the fiber preform into the optical fiber.

Abstract: A system and methods comprise a touchscreen at a premises. The touchscreen includes a processor coupled to a security system at the premises. User interfaces are presented via the touchscreen and include a security interface that provides control of functions of and access to data collected by the security system, and a network interface that provides access to network devices. A plurality of network devices at the premises is coupled to the touchscreen. A security server at a remote location is coupled to the touchscreen. The security server comprises a client interface through which remote client devices exchange data with the touchscreen and the security system. The client interface is a cross-client interface provided by a client view model of at least one of the touchscreen and the security server that normalizes information of the plurality of network devices and the security system.

Abstract: The continuity of a functional layer of a web (32, 60, 78) is assessed by forwarding the web, detecting (42, 63) the presence of the functional layer and a discontinuity and/or a thin region in the functional layer, and generating a signal in response to the discontinuity and/or thin region. The functional layer comprises a detectable component (360) in a thermoplastic composition. The detecting is carried out by a machine vision system capable of detecting the detectable component (360) in the functional layer. The detectable component (360) can be active or passive. Also included are systems for carrying out the process.

Abstract: A security system is described for managing a premises. The security system comprises security system components and a first controller. A takeover component receives security data of the security system from the first controller. The security data is used to configure a second controller to communicate with the security system. The second controller communicates with the security system components and replaces the first controller in management of the security system.

Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods comprising a gateway located at a premise forming at least one network on the premise that includes a plurality of premise devices. A sensor user interface (SUI) is coupled to the gateway and presented to a user via a remote device. The SUI includes at least one display element. The at least one display element includes a floor plan display that represents at least one floor of the premise. The floor plan display visually and separately indicates a location and a current state of each premise device of the plurality of premise devices.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling routing in premises management systems are described. A system may comprise a server located external to a premises. The server may be configured to receive, from a user device located external to the premises, a request for content from a premises device located at the premises. The server may be configured to transmit, to a gateway device located at the premises, a request to cause transmission of the content. The gateway device may configured to determine, based on the request to cause transmission of the content and a capability of a network, a routing protocol for transmission of the content. The gateway device may be configured to cause transmission of the content. The transmission of the content may use the determined routing protocol. The transmission of the content may be via the network.

Abstract: Systems and methods can include wearable, non-invasive ultrasound modalities for treating a variety of medical conditions, including but not limited to peripheral vascular disease. The modality could be therapeutic ultrasound (TUS), and be configured to promote angiogenesis within a patient via stimulation of cavitation and shear stress, among other mechanisms.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for recommending content restrictions to a user based on chatter in a social network of the user. The system analyzes chatter in the social network to identify a correlation between what is posted by users and the content that the users are posting about. The system stores a mapping between chatter and expected attributes of the content referenced by the chatter. The system will determine whether to block the content when an expected attribute is associated with a content restriction.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for routing data in a network are described. A user device may send a request for video data that has been captured by a premises device. A computing device at the premises may receive the request and determine a capability of the user device. Based on the capability of the user device, the computing device may select a protocol from a plurality of protocols with which the video data is to be transmitted to the user device. Based on determining that the video data cannot be transmitted via the computing device, the video data may be transmitted from the premises device to the user device via the determined protocol.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for processing an optical fiber preform are disclosed. According to one aspect, an apparatus may generally include a muffle defining an interior volume enclosed by at least one sidewall and a handle assembly for supporting the optical fiber preform in the muffle. The handle assembly may be removably coupled to the muffle and extend into the interior volume. At least one baffle may be positioned in the interior volume and define an upper portion of the interior volume and a lower portion of the interior volume. The at least one baffle may define at least one flow channel between the upper portion of the interior volume and the lower portion of the interior volume.
