Abstract: An illustrative approach accelerates file indexing operations for block-level backup copies in a data storage management system. A cache storage area is maintained for locally storing and serving key data blocks, thus relying less on retrieving data on demand from the backup copy. File indexing operations are used for populating the cache storage area for speedier retrieval during subsequent live browsing of the same backup copy, and vice versa. The key data blocks cached while file indexing and/or live browsing an earlier backup copy help to pre-fetch corresponding data blocks of later backup copies, thus producing a beneficial learning cycle. The approach is especially beneficial for cloud and tape backup media, and is available for a variety of data sources and backup copies, including block-level backup copies of virtual machines (VMs) and block-level backup copies of file systems, including UNIX-based and Windows-based operating systems and corresponding file systems.

  • Publication number: 20230205718
Abstract: Examples described herein relate to a configurable switch with dynamically configurable device connections to a processor socket, where the device connections are configured to meet service level agreement (SLA) parameters of a first service executing on the processor socket. For a second service that is to execute on the processor socket and the second service is higher priority than the first service, device connections of the switch to the processor socket are dynamically reconfigured to meet SLA parameters of the second service.

  • Publication number: 20230209417
Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating handover reduction in satellite systems are disclosed. A system may include a processor and a memory storing instructions, which when executed by the processor, may cause the processor to detect a user terminal that is selected for a handover procedure. The handover procedure may facilitate a switch from a source beam to a target beam. Based on input data, the processor may evaluate an ideal time value pertaining to a pre-defined time instance at which a scheduled handover is to be performed. The scheduled handover may correspond to at least one of a scheduled change in operating frequency within same beam or a scheduled feeder link handover due to a change in gateway communicating with the satellite. Based on the evaluation and the input data, the processor may estimate an optimized time value that pertains to an optimized time instance associated with an expected handover reduction.

  • Publication number: 20230209432
Abstract: The disclosed technology provides system and methods for steering wireless communication devices away from low capacity layers (e.g., cells operating on low bandwidth frequency bands or low capacity radio access technologies (RATs) when the devices are stuck on such low capacity layers because of operational state changes of radio cells that the devices can attach to. For example, when a base station determines that a stationary, connected-mode, device has been operating on a low capacity layer for a certain duration, or if a higher capacity layer that was previously out of service comes back in service, the base station can initiate a handover causing the device to attach to the higher capacity layer.

  • Publication number: 20230202524
Abstract: An example driver assistance system includes an object detection (OD) network, a semantic segmentation network, a processor, and a memory. In an example method, an image is received and stored in the memory. An object detection (OD) polygon is generated for each object detected in the image, and each OD polygon encompasses at least a portion of the corresponding object detected in the image. A region of interest (ROI) is associated with each OD polygon. Such method may further comprise generating a mask for each ROI, each mask configured as a bitmap approximating a size of the corresponding ROI; generating at least one boundary polygon for each mask based on the corresponding mask, each boundary polygon having multiple vertices and enclosing the corresponding mask; and reducing a number of vertices of the boundary polygons based on a comparison between points of the boundary polygons and respective points on the bitmaps.

  • Publication number: 20230209398
Abstract: The technology described herein reduces control-plane overloading by transferring UEs from the overloaded control plane to another available control plane. At a high level, the technology identifies when a control plane is overloaded, identifies other available control planes in a geographic area served by the overloaded control plane, and then identifies UEs for transfer using one or more criteria. Initially, a measure of control-plane performance for a control plane is received. Next, a determination is made that the control plane is overloaded by comparing the measure of control-plane performance to an overload threshold. When an overload condition exists for a control plane, then UEs with existing communication sessions using the control plane are identified for transfer.

  • Publication number: 20230208748
Abstract: Techniques for detecting path failures and reducing packet loss as a result of such failures are described for use within a data center or other environment. For example, a source and/or destination access node may create and/or maintain information about health and/or connectivity for a plurality of ports or paths between the source and destination device and core switches. The source access node may spray packets over a number of paths between the source access node and the destination access node. The source access node may use the information about connectivity for the paths between the source or destination access nodes and the core switches to limit the paths over which packets are sprayed. The source access node may spray packets over paths between the source access node and the destination access node that are identified as healthy, while avoiding paths that have been identified as failed.

  • Publication number: 20230194593
Abstract: A health signature of each switching device in a control system is estimated using system parameters such as a DC-link voltage, three-phase voltages, three-phase currents, and temperature. The switching devices can be implemented as transistors, and a health signature for each transistor may be an on-state resistance or an on-state voltage of the transistors. For example, the on-state resistance for a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) functions as a health signature. Alternatively, the on-state voltage is used as a health signature for an insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT). Additionally, a junction temperature is estimated for each transistor. Using the estimated health signatures and the junction temperatures, the remaining useful life of each transistor is estimated.

  • Publication number: 20230194321
Abstract: A flow sensor includes a flow tube in a form of a tube and a support cast around the flow tube. The support clamps the flow tube and the flow tube extends through the support. The flow sensor is formed by placing the flow tube in a tube cavity of a casting mold and pouring or injecting a liquid resin into a support cavity of the casting mold. The support is formed around the flow tube from solidifying the liquid resin in the support cavity of the casting mold. A temperature of the casting mold during formation of the support does not exceed a threshold temperature to avoid deformation of the flow tube. The flow sensor can also include at least one memory chip that stores calibration information associated with the flow sensor and connectors that allows a controller to read the calibration information from the memory chip.

  • Publication number: 20230194587
Abstract: A method for determining a capacitance value of a capacitor is provided. The method includes receiving a current signal flowing through the capacitor and receiving a voltage signal applied across the capacitor. The received voltage signal and the received current signal are filtered with a low pass filter. The filtered voltage signal and the filtered current signal are then discretized. The discretized voltage signal and the discretized current signal are transformed into a frequency domain. The capacitance value of the capacitor is determined from the transformed voltage signal and the transformed current signal.
