Abstract: A display assembly for a retail product has a base and a platform adjustably mounted on an upper end of the base. The platform includes a lower housing which is pivotally supported in a cradle attached to the upper end of the base. The platform is pivotally mounted on the cradle by a pair of pivot pins, at least one of which is threaded to secure the platform in an adjusted titled position on the cradle. A plurality of notches are formed on the platform housing and selectively engage a detent formed on the cradle to retain the platform in an adjusted position. A sensor may be removably mounted on the platform and connected to the product and to the base by an expandable cord to actuate an alarm if the product is removed in an unauthorized manner from the sensor or base.

Abstract: A security alarm is removably attached to a band extending about a package which sounds an alarm should tension on the band be reduced to prevent theft of the package contents. The band extends through a passage formed between the bottom of an alarm housing and a bottom lock plate pivotally connected to the housing. A plunger switch is mounted in the housing and engages the band. Reduction of the band tension permits the switch plunger to move and actuate an audible alarm. A slide lock locks the bottom lock plate to the alarm housing to prevent removal of the alarm from the band. A key unlocks the slide lock from the alarm housing enabling the alarm to be slid from beneath the band.

Abstract: A security device includes a locking member, a ratchet mechanism, and a plurality of cables. The cables extend through both a fastener and a base of the locking member and are wrapped around all six sides of a box-like structure. The fastener is releasably snap-fitted into the base of the locking member and secured therein by a magnetically attractable tine. The ratchet mechanism includes a housing containing a spool and a locking pawl. A bottom wall encloses a portion of the housing and includes a rotatable central portion having a key receiving recess for unlocking the spool from the pawl. The housing has a rotatable top wall portion which includes a flip-up handle for rotating the top wall portion and the internal ratchet to tighten the cable about an article. An alarm system is contained in the housing of the ratchet mechanism and actuates an audible alarm upon certain unauthorized actions occurring. An LED located within the housing provides a visual indication that the alarm system is activated.

Abstract: A security storage container has a primary security feature that is adapted to be locked and unlocked with an appropriate key. A secondary security feature is activated when the security storage container is opened without first unlocking the lock with the key. In one embodiment, the secondary security feature includes prongs that are moved to an extended position when the primary security feature of the container is defeated. In the extended position, the prongs will at least damage the item of merchandise protected by the security storage container. The extended position of the prongs may also further lock the item of merchandise within the security storage container.

Abstract: A security device includes a locking member, a ratchet mechanism, and a plurality of cables. The cables extend through both a fastener and a base of the locking member and are wrapped around all six sides of a box-like structure. In one aspect, an article security method includes associating a remote communication device with an article to be secured; using the remote communication device, generating a plurality of electrical signals responsive to receipt of spurious electromagnetic energy and a plurality of wireless signals of a base communication device associated with the remote communication device to form an alarm system; distinguishing the electrical signals generated responsive to the spurious electromagnetic energy from electrical signals generated responsive to the wireless signals of the base communication device; and responsive to the distinguishing, generating a plurality of human perceptible alarm signals corresponding to respective ones of the electrical signals generated responsive to the wireless signals of the base communication device.

Abstract: A security device for attachment to an article to deter theft has a housing containing an alarm system including an audible alarm speaker. The alarm system includes a conductor located within the housing which forms a loop that extends at least partially about the alarm speaker or about the periphery of the housing. The conductor which can be an electrical conductor, fiber optic conductor, light pipe, etc., when severed by a thief will actuate the audible alarm. In another embodiment, the conductor forms a loop about a simulated speaker grille formed in the housing to prevent tampering, wherein the audible alarm is located in the housing remote from the simulated speaker grille.

Abstract: A theft deterrent device includes first and second jaws pivotally connected to one another and pivotally movable between open and closed positions. The jaws form in the closed position an interior chamber and a through passage for receiving therethrough a portion of an article of merchandise. A lock slide is slidable within the interior chamber between locked and unlocked positions and lockable by a lock in the locked position to secure the first and second jaws together in the closed position. The lock slide includes lock hooks which lockably engage lock hooks of the second jaw. The lock slide includes locking and unlocking ledges which a resilient, magnetically attractable lock finger of the lock respectively engages in the locked and unlocked positions. An externally accessible thumb grip operatively engages the lock slide to move it between the locked and unlocked positions. An EAS tag is disposed within the device.

Abstract: A theft deterrent device allows a customer to handle an item of merchandise to which the device is connected. The device is configured to protect items of merchandise having first and second pieces each of which are sufficiently valuable to warrant such protection. The device includes a base mountable on a support structure, an audible alarm, first and second connectors which attach respectively to the first and second pieces of the item of merchandise, lanyards for connecting the base to the first and second connectors and a removal sensor for sensing removal of one or both of connectors from the first and second pieces of the item of merchandise so that the alarm is activated when the connector or connectors are removed from the item of merchandise. The lanyards provide electrical communication between the alarm and the connectors, which may include plunger switches which serve as removal sensors.

Abstract: A lockable security storage container includes a container having a base and a lid hingedly connected to the base and movable between opened and closed positions. A lock slide is slidable between locked and unlocked positions to lock and unlock the container. The lock slide engages both the lid and base when the lock mechanism is in the locked position. The lock slide is encased within the container when the lock slide is in both the locked and unlocked positions.

Abstract: A method for using a lockable storage container includes the steps of moving the lock from a locked position to an unlocked position while the lock is carried by the container. An indicator is used to indicate the status of the lock to the user. The lock is held in the unlocked position so that it cannot accidently move back into the locked position. A magnetic key is used to unlock the lock and move the lock slide to the unlocked position.

Abstract: A lockable storage container includes a lock that is movable from a locked position to an unlocked position while the lock is carried by the container. Abstract: An adapter includes a rigid plate which has a plurality of fastener elements extending from one side. The fastener elements align with fastener-receiving holes formed in a member heretofore intended to receive fasteners for mounting the member on a supporting surface. An exposed side of the plate has pressure sensitive adhesive for securing the member to a support surface eliminating the use of fasteners extending directly from the member into the support surface. Preferably, the plate fastener elements are self-clinching and are press-fitted in the plate and have threaded bores for receiving fasteners which extend through the usual mounting holes formed in the base of the member to secure the plate to the member eliminating the use of screws for attaching the member to a support surface.

Abstract: A security system and display module therefore protects an item of merchandise mounted on the display module in a retail environment. The item of merchandise is electrically and mechanically connected to a sensor which is removably mounted on the display module by a first power cord. A second power cord connects the display module to the sensor and a third power cord connects the display module to a source of electricity for supplying electric power to the sensor through the display module and then to the displayed item for maintaining the charge on a battery of the displayed item. The display module contains an alarm unit having an audible alarm which is actuated if the integrity of either of the first or second power cords is compromised. A plunger switch and LED may be contained in the sensor and in a base of the display module and connected to the internal alarm to provide additional security for the protected item of merchandise.

A power cord connects each of the display modules to a source of electricity for supplying electric power to the sensor through the display module and then to the displayed item for maintaining the charge on a battery of the displayed item. The alarm unit contains an internal power source for controlling the alarm circuitry. A plunger switch and LED may be contained in the sensor.

Abstract: A display device has a base and an upper platform for removably supporting a retail product thereon. A sensor or attachment device includes an attachment surface for attaching the sensor to the product and has an internal magnet which magnetically couples with another magnet located in the platform to automatically orient the sensor and attached product to a desired display position on the base. A metal plate is mounted within the sensor between the internal magnet and attachment surface to provide magnetic shielding for magnetic sensitive components of the product attached to the sensor. A lanyard extends between the sensor and the base or a remote fixture and may contain electrical conductors for controlling a plunger actuated switch in the sensor.
