Abstract: A chair includes a chair arm (20) coupled to a frame (22, 28) and a cup holder (24) mounted to chair arm (20) for movement between a retracted position lying underneath chair arm (20) to an opened position lying away from the underside of chair arm (20) to hold a cup (26) therein. Cup holder (24) includes first and second arms (40, 42) mounted for pivotable movement about a pivot axis (44) relative to chair arm (20) and one another. When moved to the opened position, first and second arms (40, 42) cooperate to define a circular cup-receiving opening therebetween. Cup holder (24) also includes an interlock (90) to guide relative movement of first and second arms (40, 42) as those arms are moved between retracted and opened positions.

Abstract: A swing includes a swing motor and an adaptive control system for periodically actuating the swing motor to sustain swinging pendulum movement of a seat along a swing arc in a manner that is compatible with the natural frequency (and period) of the seat. The swing further includes a support stand and a swing seat frame mounted on the support stand to carry the seat. The adaptive control system includes an impulse mechanism that applies a torque to the swing seat frame and that is actuated at a variable point along the swing arc between first and second extreme positions and without regard to the position of the swing seat frame relative to the support stand.

Abstract: A process is provided for making a painted end frame assembly of the type used in a bed, crib, or cradle. Components of the end frame assembly are first formed and a selected color of paint is applied to each component to produce a multi-colored end frame assembly following later assembly of the components. In one embodiment, a process is provided for making a painted end frame assembly with multi-colored spindles.

Abstract: A child seat is provided having an adjustable seat back arranged to pivot relative to a seat bottom between an upright position and a reclined position. The child seat includes a seat shell having a proximal end, a distal end, a seat bottom, and a first pivot axis adjacent to the proximal end and positioned to lie in spaced-apart relation to the seat bottom. A bottom surface of the seat shell includes a nesting surface appended to the proximal end of the seat shell. The nesting surface curves along an arc having a radius that is constant about the first pivot axis. The child seat also includes a seat back shell having a proximal end, a distal end, a seat back, and a second pivot axis adjacent to the distal end and lying in spaced-apart relation to the seat back. A top surface of the seat back shell includes a mating surface appended to the distal end of the seat back shell.
