  • Publication number: 20180220367
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a technique of supporting access to a wireless medium of a wireless communication network. A method embodiment comprises: when access of a station (100) to the wireless medium is delayed, determining (S202; S308), by the station, a back-off period indicating the period of time the access of the station to the wireless Determine back-off medium is delayed, and entering (S204; S312), by the station (100), into a sleep mode for a sleep period based on the determined back-off period.

  • Publication number: 20180198559
Abstract: A Transmitting Node (TN) 102 and a method therein for providing enhanced channel coding of a packet transmitted in a communications network 100. The TN applies, to payload data, an outer channel encoder resulting in a plurality of outer code bits. Further the TN applies an inner channel encoder to the plurality of outer code bits. Furthermore, the TN divides resulting code bits of the inner channel encoder into a first group and one or more second groups. Yet further, the TN generates a first set of OFDM symbols carrying at least a part of the first group, and second sets of OFDM symbols carrying at least a part of the one or more second groups. The TN transmits a packet comprising the first set of OFDM symbols followed by the second sets of OFDM symbols, whereby an enhanced channel coding of the transmitted packet is provided.

  • Publication number: 20180199289
Abstract: Methods and stations (200, 204) for enabling power saving in a receiving station (204) when a transmitting station (200) transmits a radio signal to a targeted station (202). The transmitting station (200) sets at least one power limitation bit that indicates an estimated power limitation status of the targeted station (202), and transmits the radio signal with a preamble including the power limitation bit. When receiving said preamble, the receiving station (204) is able to determine whether to receive and decode the remaining complete radio signal or not, based on the power limitation bit. For example, if the receiving station (204) itself is power limited, it can save power by not receiving and decoding the complete radio signal when the power limitation bit in the preamble indicates that the targeted station (202) is non-power limited.

  • Publication number: 20180167949
Abstract: An AP, a wireless device as well as a method performed by the AP and a method performed by the wireless device for communication between the AP and the wireless device are provided. The AP and wireless device are operable in a WLAN employing contention based access for radio resources. The method performed by the AP comprises obtaining (110) information about transmission pattern(s) of interfering radio system(s), and determining (130) a deviation of packet length for transmission(s) of the interfering radio systems(s). The method further comprises indicating (140), to the wireless device the deviation of packet length and the information about transmission pattern(s) of interfering radio system(s) when the deviation is less than a deviation threshold.

  • Publication number: 20180123841
Abstract: A method for modulating and coding a data packet comprising digitally encoded information. The method comprises selecting a hierarchy of modulation and coding schemes to use for modulation and coding of the digitally encoded information. The method also comprises identifying, among the bits in the digitally encoded information and based on the selected hierarchy of modulation and coding schemes, two sets of data, a first set of data and a second set of data, the second set of data being a sub-set of the first set of data and comprising bits different from the most robust bits of the first set of data. The method further comprises performing modulation and coding of the first set of data using a modulation and coding scheme with high order modulation in order to create a first layer of the data packet.

  • Publication number: 20180103491
Abstract: A first communications device 102 and a method therein for transmitting data to a second communications device 104 on a sub-channel. The first device performs carrier sensing on a first sub-channel assigned an unknown occupancy state. When the first sub-channel is determined as being vacant, the first device transmits, to the second device, the data on the first sub-channel. When the first sub-channel is determined as being occupied, the first device assigns the first sub-channel an occupied state, starts a first time period associated with the first sub-channel, and performs carrier sensing on a second sub-channel assigned with the unknown occupancy state. When the second sub-channel is determined as being vacant, the first device transmits, to the second device, the data on the second sub-channel. In absence of the second sub-channel assigned an unknown occupancy state, the first device enters an inactive mode until the first time period has expired.

  • Publication number: 20180035331
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an access point (2) and to a sensor station (4) and methods performed therein. The access point (2) is adapted to communicate with the sensor station (4) and vice versa, over a communication channel using a contention based channel access. The access point (2) monitors (110) the traffic of the communication channel and estimates a congestion level of the communication channel. Information indicating the congestion level is incorporated (125) into a synchronization frame (200; 300) which is transmitted (140) to the sensor station (4). The sensor station (4) uses the congestion information when it selects which modulation and coding scheme it should use when sending data to the access point.
