  • Patent number: 9039239
Abstract: A lighting system utilizing light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and methods for configuring lanterns thereof are disclosed. The lantern includes a roof or canopy that includes fans that span directly between the electronics and LEDs for improved heat dissipation, the fans preferably formed integral with the canopy. The LEDs are mounted on easily mounted and removed modular printed circuit boards, in at least two different sizes and numbers of LEDs, and optical lenses of at least two different lighting patterns are provided, so that the lantern may be assembled or retrofit according to a desired application including candlepower and lighting pattern for cast light. The optical lenses are individually provided, utilize refraction to diminish reflection, and, in one form, incorporate an integral reflector to assist in defining a lighting pattern. In some forms, a securement may be provided for individual securement of lenses with the PCB.

  • Publication number: 20140372213
Abstract: Systems and methods for creating connections for advocate advice are provided. Various embodiments of the present invention relate to identifying users as experts/advocates in a particular area and connecting the experts/advocates with users of a social network. The experts/advocates can be self-identified or identified through a selection process. For example, products owned by a particular user can be identified (e.g., manually or automatically), and the particular user can opt-in as an advocate for those products. In some embodiments, various rewards can be provided to encourage participation at different levels. The experts/advocates can provide recommendations based on subject matter selected by the user (e.g., twins, pregnancy, cancer, phone type, etc.) with or without any friendship connections. In addition, the experts/advocates can be recommended to users of the social network based one or more social signals.

  • Patent number: 8646473
Abstract: A fail-safe system and method for an electro-hydraulic system. The system includes a controller, sensor, directional control valve, interlock, hydraulic valve and movement actuator. The directional control valve moves when the controller is moved. The interlock is hydraulically coupled to the directional control valve; and is in active position when the directional control valve is moved, and in shutoff position when the directional control valve is not moved. The hydraulic valve has an input side coupled to a flow source and an output side coupled to a hydraulic function. The movement actuator moves the hydraulic valve to a desired position as directed by the controller when the interlock is in the active position, and does not move the hydraulic valve when the interlock is in the shutoff position. The sensor detects movement of the controller and sends a control signal to the first valve actuator.

  • Patent number: 8488587
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for providing automatic resource distribution is presented. A number of ports of a resource to hold (H) as needed for each Multi Media Platform (MPP) is determined. Further, the maximum number of ports of a resource that can be acquired (M)—M?H of which are borrowed from other MPPs—for each MPP is also determined. The ports are then allocated for an MPP from at least one server in accordance with the number of ports to hold as needed and the number of ports that can be borrowed.
