  • Publication number: 20050264517
Abstract: The screen of a liquid crystal display is first divided into a compensation portion, a compensation transition portion and a non-compensation portion in a sequence arranged along the scanning line. Then storage capacitor areas of the pixels in the non-compensation portion are made equal, whereas the difference between the storage capacitor area of the pixel in the compensation portion and that in the non-compensation portion is set to one constant basic compensation area. Afterward, the average of the storage capacitor areas of the pixels on each data line in the compensation transition portion progressively varies along the scanning line, where the average is greater than or equal to any of the storage capacitor areas of the pixels in the non-compensation portion. The direction of the scanning line is designated as either the direction in which scanning signals are transmitted or the direction opposite thereto.

  • Patent number: 6778247
Abstract: A cutting method of a tap carrier package of a liquid crystal display. The cutting method cuts a film comprising a first straight layout along a predetermined direction on a wiring layer comprising a second straight layout along the predetermined direction and a oblique layout, the method comprises the following steps. First, a breach is formed by cutting a part of the first straight layout on the film. Finally, the film is fastened on the wiring layer. Thus, the remaining first straight layout is only connected to the straight layout and the oblique layout is exposed through the breach.

  • Publication number: 20040109119
Abstract: The present invention discloses an in-plane switching (IPS) LCD having a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix to be formed on a transparent insulating substrate. A region, bounded by a pair of gate bus lines and a pair of signal bus lines, defines a unit pixel region. Each common electrode overlaps with one of the signal bus lines in parallel. A gate electrode extended from an adjacent gate bus line goes toward the gate bus line of the pixel. A switching element formed in the pixel is a three-terminal thin film transistor whose one terminal is connected to a pixel electrode by passing through the middle of the pixel, and the other two terminals are respectively connected to the gate bus line and the signal bus line. The pixel electrode overlaps with the gate electrode in parallel, and the storage capacitor of the pixel is formed therebetween.
