Abstract: A system associated with a first tower in a wireless network receives, at the first tower, tower lists generated by other towers that are nearby the first tower. The system further authenticates each of the received tower lists, and identifies ones of the nearby towers as rogue towers based on failures to authenticate respective ones of the received additional tower lists. The system also broadcasts a tower black list that lists the identified rogue towers to the nearby towers and to nearby mobile devices.

Abstract: An approach for configuring a mobile device to enable accident detection and notification functionality for use within a vehicle is described. An emergency notification platform receives position information and acceleration information associated with a mobile device. The emergency notification platform applies a rule to the position information and the acceleration information to determine an alert condition. A notification message is then generated for presentation on the mobile device based on the application of the rule, wherein the notification message specifies information relating to the alert condition.

Abstract: An approach for providing incomplete action monitoring and service for data transactions is described. Incompleteness of a transaction event associated with an application is monitored. The incompleteness of the transaction event is detected in response to a failure in a communication session that transports data of the application. State information relating to transmission of the data for the application is stored. The restoration of the communication session is determined. Completion of the transaction event is initiated based on the stored state information.

Abstract: At least one business rule is received that specifies at least one template to be used in generating a code file. A configuration file is generated that identifies a location of the at least one template. The at least one template is retrieved and parsed to generate a question file that indicates at least one tag in the at least one template. User input is obtained concerning a value that relates to the at least one tag. The code file is generated by replacing the at least one tag in the template with the value.

Abstract: A system includes a source database storing a targeted source code having references to hard-coded configuration information. A converter is in communication with the source database and is configured to replace the hard-coded configuration information in the targeted source code with soft-coded configuration information. A method includes searching the targeted source code for references related to hard-coded configuration information, receiving new reference names for the references, each of the new reference names corresponding to at least one of the references and being related to soft-coded configuration information, and replacing the references related to hard-coded configuration information with the corresponding new reference name to generate a targetless source code with the soft-coded configuration information.

Abstract: An approach for call failover to a packetized voice session is described. Impending signal failure is detected on a cellular link supporting a cellular call with a user device. A failover procedure is initiated in response to the detection, wherein the failover procedure includes detecting presence of a wireless data connection, and terminating the cellular call and concurrently activating a voice call application to establish a packetized voice session over the wireless data connection with the user device.

Abstract: An approach for providing virtual throwing of objects is described. Execution of virtually throwing an object as represented by a first application on a first mobile device is detected. Throwing data for the object using sensor information and location information of the first mobile device is determined. A second mobile device is selected as a candidate to virtually catch the object as represented by a second application on the second mobile device based on the throwing data and location information of the second mobile device. A successful catch of the object by the second mobile device is determined based on the throwing data and the location information of the second mobile device.
