  • Publication number: 20190094146
Abstract: A micro-colorimetric sensor for sensing target chemicals that converts time sequence information into a spatial distribution of color. By tracking the spatial color distribution, chemical exposure over time is thus detected, which overcomes the limitation of traditional colorimetric sensors. A porous media is coated on a top surface of the substrate. Multiple sensing chemicals are fused in parallel linear channels into the porous media coating. A plate is affixed over the substrate top surface to cover the plurality of parallel linear channels. An air sample is diffused along the porous media to get a clear pattern of spatial color distribution and color images are captured. Optical parameters like gradient of spatial color distribution, intensity, and absorbance, etc., can be tracked to calculate analytes concentrations.

  • Publication number: 20190083619
Abstract: Methods for removing, reducing, dispersing, disrupting or eradicating biofilms present on a surface may include contacting the biofilm with a composition including an agent that reduces the potency of an aminopeptidase in the biofilm. The agent may reduce expression, secretion or extracellular activity of the aminopeptidase in the biofilm. The biofilm may be formed by P. aeruginosa or P. stutzeri. The composition may enhance the sensitivity of P. aeruginosa to ciprofloxacin. Methods of determining the number of bacterial population in biofilm or a culture containing bacterial aggregate may include dispersing the bacterial aggregate or biofilm by using a composition comprising exogenous PslG. The number of bacteria may be determined based on the dispersed bacteria.

  • Patent number: 10199669
Abstract: A fuel cell power controller tracks load current and fuel cell output voltage, and alerts on excessive fuel cell ramp rate, so another power source can supplement the fuel cell and/or the load can be reduced. A power engineering process makes efficient use of available fuel cell power by ramping up power flow rapidly when power is available, while respecting the ramp rate and other power limitations of the fuel cell and safety limitations of the load. Power flow decreases after an alert indicating an electrical output limitation of the fuel cell. Permitted power flow increases in response to a power demand increase (actual or requested) from the load in the absence of the alert. Power flow may increase or decrease in a fixed amount, a proportional amount, or per a sequence. A power controller relay may trip open on a low fuel cell output voltage or high load current.

  • Publication number: 20180302472
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus include computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium, including a system that controls content distribution using a feedback loop. Content is distributed over multiple different online channels using a same initial maximum selection value for distribution over each different online channel. An observed distribution amount required for distribution of the content over the multiple different online channels is received through a feedback loop and for multiple different distributions of the content. Based on the observed distribution amount received through the feedback loop, a realized distribution amount is determined for the multiple different distributions across the multiple different online channels. The maximum selection value is adjusted based on a difference between the realized distribution amount and a reference distribution amount specified by a provider of the content.

  • Patent number: 10078455
Abstract: Aspects extend to methods, systems, and computer program products for predicting solid state drive reliability. Aspects of the invention can be used to predict and/or to configure a data center to minimize one or more of: SSD capacity degradation (how much storage an SSD has left), SSD performance degradation (reduced read/write latency/throughput), and SSD failure. Models and data center considerations can be based on device level SSD related operations, such as, for example, read, write, erase. Operations decisions can be made for a data center based on SSD specific features, such as, for example, remaining capacity, write amplification factor, etc. Dependence and/or causality of various different data center factors can be leveraged. The impact of the various data center factors on different SSD failure modes and capacity/performance degradation can be quantified to drive SSD design, SSD provisioning, and SSD operations.

  • Publication number: 20180189603
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for optimizing the content of a user feed that includes professional and nonprofessional posts. One method includes an operation for training a machine-learning classifier to classify posts of a social website as professional or nonprofessional posts based on a plurality of features that include a cluster assigned to each post. Posts are identified for placement in a user feed of the social website, each post being associated with a score, and each post is assigned to one of the clusters based on the semantic meaning of the words in the post. The method further includes operations for invoking the machine-learning classifier to classify each post as a professional or a nonprofessional post, and for increasing the scores of the posts classified as professional posts. The posts are ranked for presentation in the user feed based on the score of each post.

  • Publication number: 20180189288
Abstract: Methods, systems, and programs are provided for presenting professional content in a user feed. The user feed is populated with industry-wise content, using relevance-driven technologies to select the best relevant industry content, while solving the problem of low-content availability for users with few connections. Professional posts created by users in a social network are identified, where each user is associated with an industry as configured in a profile of the user. A score for each identified professional post is calculated and the professional posts are sorted based on their scores. After detecting a request for data to present in a first user feed to a first user that is associated with a first industry, the server selects professional posts based on the industry of the user that created each post. The selected professional posts are then merged with other types of content and presented in the first user feed.

  • Publication number: 20180181640
Abstract: This invention relates to methods and systems for searching. It is particularly applicable to methods of searching which enable efficient identification of compatible portfolios. Embodiments of the invention propose methods of searching which address the huge search space issue associated with identifying compatible portfolios. In particular, embodiments of the invention start their search operations simultaneously from both sides by both trying to form valid portfolios from candidate products until a valid solution is found and trying to find conflicts from the defined compatibility rules until a conflict is found which leads to the conclusion that no valid solution exists. A conclusion from either process will stop the whole searching process which can significantly reduce blind and unnecessary searching in the whole search space.
