  • Publication number: 20190162978
Abstract: There are several types of plenoptic devices having their proprietary file format. At present there is no standard supporting the acquisition and transmission of multidimensional information for an exhaustive over-view of the different parameters upon which a light-field depends. As such acquired light-field data for different cameras have a diversity of formats. The notion of pixel beam, which represents a volume occupied by a set of rays of light in an object space of an optical system of a camera is thus introduced. The method according to the invention enables to provide data representative of a collection of pixel beams describing a first optical system that is agnostic since these data are obtained by imaging the collection of pixel beams through a second optical system. Such data representative of a collection of pixel beams enable the generation of parametrized output images from which post-processing.

  • Patent number: 10110872
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a device for correcting distortion errors in a 3D content viewed by an observer on a screen. The method comprises the step of determining a rendered roundness factor (rrf) of a pinhole model projected cylinder, estimating a rendered roundness factor table depending on the defined distance of the observer to the screen and the disparity values of objects of the image, determining for the observer a disparity transform function (TD) as a function of the estimated rendered roundness factor table and modifying the object disparity values using the disparity transform so that a perceived roundness factor of one is provided.

  • Publication number: 20180200619
Abstract: In a particular implementation, a user environment space for haptic feedback and interactivity (HapSpace) is proposed. In one embodiment, the HapSpace is a virtual space attached to the user and is defined by the maximum distance that the user's body can reach. The HapSpace may move as the user moves. Haptic objects and haptic devices, and the associated haptic properties, may also be defined within the HapSpace. New descriptors, such as those enable precise locations and link between the user and haptic objects/devices are defined for describing the HapSpace.

  • Publication number: 20180184096
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus for encoding and decoding pixel lists of an image. The pixels of an image are clustered according to at least one relationship. Clusters are stored as pixel lists. An integer matrix of the same size as the image is generated. A pixel of the image at the first index belongs to one list. The next pixel in the list has a second index. An integer is calculated according to the two indices and is stored at the first index in the matrix. The matrix may be compressed according to a lossless compression method. At decoding, a pixel with a first index in the image is associated with a pixel list. A second index is calculated according to the integer at the first index in the matrix and the pixel at the second index in the image is added to the list.

  • Publication number: 20180124373
Abstract: A method for obtaining a multi-view image to be displayed on an auto-stereoscopic display is provided. The auto-stereoscopic display is configured to display multi-view images with n views forming n?1 successive stereoscopic pairs of views. The method for obtaining a multi-view image to be displayed includes obtaining, within a current multi-view image displayed on the auto-stereoscopic display, a current stereoscopic pair of views associated with a location of an observer in front of the auto-stereoscopic display and obtaining the multi-view image to be displayed, from n views being determined responsive to the current stereoscopic pair of views, and defining a set of n?1 successive stereoscopic pairs of views in which the current stereoscopic pair of views occupies a substantially central position.

  • Publication number: 20170374388
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the transmission of sets of data and metadata and more particularly to the transmission of light-field contents. Light-field data take up large amounts of storage space which makes storage cumbersome and processing less efficient. In addition, light-field acquisition devices are extremely heterogeneous and each camera has its own proprietary file format. Since acquired light-field data from different cameras have a diversity of formats a complex processing is induced on the receiver side. To this end, it is proposed a method for encoding a signal representative of a light-field content in which the parameters representing the rays of light sensed by the different pixels of the sensor are mapped on the sensor. A second set of encoded parameters are used to reconstruct the light-field content from the parameters representing the rays of light sensed by the different pixels of the sensor.
