  • Patent number: 4394209
Abstract: An improved arrangement for weldingly connecting an annular connecting edge of a synthetic thermoplastic bottom to a cylindrical thermoplastic section to form a cylindrical container having one open end and one end which is closed by the bottom. The arrangement includes a supporting frame having a pair of confronting vertical wall portions. A first disc is rotatably mounted via a first shaft in a first vertical wall portion. A second hollow shaft is coaxially slidably and freely rotatably mounted with respect to the first shaft in a second confronting vertical wall. A counter pressure second disc is coaxially slidably freely rotatably mounted in the second hollow shaft. The thermoplastic bottom is adapted to be clampingly held between the first and second discs. At least one freely rotatable anvil roller is mounted on the second hollow shaft for engaging the connecting edge of the thermoplastic bottom or the inside wall of the cylindrical thermoplastic section.

  • Patent number: 4344516
Abstract: A disengaging device is used with a frictional clutch which includes a rotating member displaceable in the direction of its axis of rotation. The disengaging device provides a releasable locking connection between the rotating member and a gear case, and includes a first part and a second part each coaxial with the axis of rotation and with the second part laterally enclosing the first part. At least one opening extends through the outer second part and is located opposite a groove or recess in the inner part. A locking member is passed through the opening into locking engagement with the groove or recess in the first part for preventing relative axial displacement between the two parts. The locking member can be removed for separating the two parts.

  • Patent number: 4335063
Abstract: A method for the multi-stage compression of a mass in a press, especially an extrusion press containing plastic or elastic masses. The mass to be extruded is precompressed up to a preliminary pressure by the rapid advance of the pressure piston. The initial advance takes place at a high rate without the occurrence of impermissibly high temperatures of the mass or the enclosed gas. The subsequent compression to higher pressure levels takes place in a sequence of stages in each of which the rate of advance of the pressure piston is constant. The rate of advance is increased from stage to stage until a final extrusion pressure is reached. An apparatus for carrying out the method of the invention includes a hydraulic flow rate regulator which is controlled on the basis of signals that are related to the pressure measured in the hydraulic system. The pressure signals may be derived by potentiometers energized by pressure-dependent switches.

  • Patent number: 4271950
Abstract: A clutch mechanism particularly suited for motor vehicles is structured to include a roller bearing assembly which is composed of a rotary member, a stationary or nonrotative member and roller bodies operatively interposed therebetween. Clutch actuation is effected by axial movement of the roller bearing assembly in order to bring the rotating member into position relative to the clutch releasing mechanism. The roller bearing assembly is mounted on a guide element which includes a clutch control device and an annular connecting member is interposed between the guide element and the stationary member of the roller bearing assembly in order to transmit clutch actuating forces therebetween. The connecting member is configured to maintain the guide element and the stationary member rotatively fixed relative to each other while allowing free radial movement therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4207047
Abstract: A method for pressure buildup in a pressing cylinder of a press for a plastic or elastic material, wherein the material, under the influence of the advance of a plunger, is initially precompressed slowly to reach a pre-extrusion pressure and then the pressure is raised and adjusted to the extrusion pressure for the material and maintained at this level. The differential quotient of the pressure rise as a function of time is predetermined as a criterion for reaching the pre-extrusion pressure, and compression is carried out up to this point at a constant low plunger advance rate, with a constant rise in pressure thereafter up to the extrusion pressure.A circuit for carrying out the method includes at least one valve incorporated in the hydraulic feed line to the hydraulic cylinder in which the piston is positioned. The valve is controllable initially by a volume sensor and then by a pressure-rise control means for the hydraulic fluid.

  • Patent number: 4113385
Abstract: There is described an improvement for an apparatus employing a plurality of operational elements adapted to cooperate for producing an electrical signal representing the variation of an ordinate quantity with respect to an abscissa quantity changing at a controlled rate. At least one of said elements requires an adjustment during operation such as is capable of causing spurious transients in the electrical signal. The apparatus further comprises a filter for filtering the electrical signal before feeding the signal to a suitable utilization device such as a recorder. The improvement includes control means which operate to interrupt the ordinate quantity signal and cut off the filter response prior to any element adjustment. There is disclosed means for storing the output of the filter at cut off and for memorizing the point along the impulse characteristic of the filter at which cut off takes place.

  • Patent number: 4039781
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for protecting an overload coupling includes respective pulse generating elements which produce respective pulse trains, the difference between individual repetition rates of which is a measure of slip. A pulse comparator, in the form of a resettable forward-backward counter receives outputs from the two pulse generating elements and is provided with a reset input. A decoding stage is connected to receive the counting result output from the counter. A warning signal generator receives the output of the decoding stage. A disconnecting device is operatively arranged to disengage the coupling upon production of a signal from the decoding stage indicating a given slip.
