  • Publication number: 20050200052
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and a device for producing blow-molded plastic hollow bodies. The device is of an enhanced design which avoids the shortcomings of traditional blow-molding technology. The extrusion die according to this invention is adjustable for different settings to produce different, partly overlapping wall thicknesses of the parison blank in order to compensate for the insufficiencies inherent in blow-molding and to obtain a finished blow-molded product with as consistent and uniform a wall thickness as possible, with an overlay, for instance in vertical wall sections, of evenly spaced longitudinal ribs. A technical concept is introduced whereby, as a novel process, the two conventional measures used to achieve a uniform wall thickness in the finished blow-molded hollow body are complemented by an additional, third step which makes it possible to produce containers whose hollow bodies are provided with targeted, intentional and reproducible irregular wall-thickness patterns.

  • Publication number: 20050082076
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-layer plastic container (10) for the storage and transport of materials in particular with an explosion risk, comprising at least two layers of plastic, whereby the inner layer (14) is not electrically conducting and the outer layer (12) is electrically conducting. According to the invention, an electrostatic charging of the plastic container or/and the inner filled material with a risk of explosion may be avoided, whereby a permanent electrical connection between the inner packed material and the base on which the plastic container (10) is mounted is provided which guarantees a secure discharge of electrostatic charging of the container body or the packed material to the base.

  • Patent number: 6857532
Abstract: The invention relates to a pallet container with a thin-walled inner receptacle preferably made from thermoplastic material for the storage and transport of liquid or free-flowing goods, wherein the plastic container is closely surrounded by an outer cage jacket of crossed hollow bars which are configured with dimples by means of which bending points in the cage jacket are established so that when the pallet container is subjected to drops from certain heights, the cage jacket incurs a plastic deformation, thereby preventing fracturing or tearing of the hollow bars from the cage jacket.

  • Publication number: 20050037169
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for producing blow-molded plastic hollow bodies (60). The device is of enhanced design which avoids the shortcomings of traditional blow-molding technology. The extrusion die according to this invention is adjustable for different settings to produce different, partly overlapping wall thicknesses of the parison blank in order to compensate for the insufficiencies inherent in blow-molding and to obtain a finished blow-molded product with as consistent and uniform a wall thickness as possible, with an overlay, for instance in vertical wall areas, of evenly spaced longitudinal ribs (68). A technical concept is introduced whereby, as a novel process, the two conventional measures used to achieve a uniform wall thickness in the finished blow-molded hollow body are complemented by an additional, third step which makes it possible to produce containers whose hollow bodies (60) are provided with targeted, intentional and reproducible irregular wall thickness patterns.

  • Publication number: 20040195242
Abstract: A pallet container has a rigid thin-walled inner receptacle from thermoplastic material for storage and transport of liquid or free-flowing contents, with a cage of crossed hollow bars closely surrounding the plastic receptacle as a supporting jacket and a bottom pallet which supports the receptacle and on which the support jacket is securely attached; the cage jacket comprises vertical and horizontal hollow bars firmly welded to each other which have a closed profile and a special trapezoid-shaped cross section to provide optimal vibration elasticity with sufficient flexural strength to prevent fractures of the hollow bars through extended dynamic vibrational stress due to lengthy transports on bad roads.

  • Publication number: 20040154943
Abstract: The invention is directed to a pallet container assembly with a thin-walled rigid inner container of thermoplastic material for the storage and transport of liquid or flowable contents, including a cage-like bar frame closely surrounding as support jacket the inner plastic container, and a bottom pallet for placement of the inner plastic container and secure attachment of the support jacket, wherein there are provided, within the support area of the inner plastic container on the surface of the bottom pallet optionally on the surface of an intermediate plate, respective means (form-fitting means/frictional connection means) which—as viewed in the direction of the horizontal plane—result in a substantial increase of the slip resistance between the downwardly pointing outer surface of the bottom pallet or the intermediate plate.

  • Patent number: 6773249
Abstract: The invention relates to an extrusion head for producing a tubular parison (22) in order to manufacture large-volume, blow molded plastic hollow bodies. The inventive extrusion head has an adjustable ring-shaped tube outlet nozzle for selectively adjusting the nozzle opening (20) in order to alter the wall thickness of the exiting parison (22). In order to provide a multiple adjustability of the extruded tube cross section, the invention provides that the extrusion head comprises at least three separate nozzle/mandrel gap adjustment elements (D 0=mandrel, DS I, DS II, DS III) which are differently profiled and exchangeable. The elements can be individually and/or simultaneously brought into working contact with the exiting parison (22) in the mandrel gap (20) from inside and/or outside, whereby at least two of the adjustment elements (D 0=mandrel, DS I, DS II, DS III) are configured such that they can be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6401957
Abstract: A lidded plastic barrel (10) consisting of a barrel body (12), a barrel lid (14) and a clamping ring or ferrule (16). The U-channeled rim (20) of the barrel lid (14) includes an additional, rotationally symmetrical sealing web (36) and a gasket (22) is positioned between the outer circular side wall (26) of the lid and the said sealing web (36). Between the sealing web (36) and the inner circular side wall (28) of the lid an annular recess (38) opens up toward the bottom while the sealing web (36) and the inner circular side wall (28) are spaced apart and are mutually connected by way of an upper flange (40).

  • Patent number: 6360907
Abstract: The invention refers to a pallet container (10) including a bottom pallet (12), a plastic receptacle (14) arranged thereon and a support jacket (16) closely surrounding the plastic receptacle (14) and fixedly connected (but detachably) on the bottom side with the bottom pallet (12). Conventionally, the thickened pinch-off seam produced in the lower receptacle plate (and also in the upper receptacle plate (22)) through pinching off the tubular parison interferes with a flow of the residual liquid to the bottom-side discharge valve (28). Thus, in accordance with the invention, the inner plastic receptacle (14) is provided with welded pinch-off seams (30) on two diametrically opposing side walls, preferably with one seam ending directly in the integral discharge valve (28). The discharge valve (28) thus lies in the middle of the side walls with the joining weld for the first time entirely in the tube pinch-off area around the blow mandrel within the tube.

  • Patent number: 6325212
Abstract: A reusable container, made of a thermoplastic material, with at least one filler and drain opening (18) in the top panel (20) and with a circumferential upper and lower stacking ring (12, 16). To permit reuse, direct stackability, good residual drainability as well as good manipulability of the container, this invention provides for the upper stacking ring (12) to have a slightly larger diameter than the lower stacking ring (16) and to feature on the inside of its upper rim a recess matching the diameter of the lower stacking ring (16) and on the outside a vertically protruding circular flange, so that, when stacked one container atop the other, the lower stacking ring of the upper container fits into the recess in the upper stacking ring of the barrel underneath and is snugly centered therein by the vertically protruding circular flange. This allows for the direct, multiple, secure stacking of the containers that are the object of this invention.

  • Publication number: 20010025854
Abstract: This invention relates to a container consisting of a thermoplastic material, with side walls, flat top and bottom panels of which the top panel is provided with at least one fill/drain opening, and with a continuous circumferential carrying and transport rim. For better utilization of pallet space, the container body has an approximately square cross-section with slightly convex lateral surfaces and slightly radiused corners. In order to counteract the inherent tendency of the flat container walls to bulge and buckle, the container body is provided with vertical and/or horizontal reinforcement elements.
