Abstract: An arrangement for examination of one or more specimens arranged in specimen vessels or on specimen carriers by transmitted light or incident light by imaging and/or detecting at least a portion of the specimen volume through the specimen vessel or specimen carrier by a CCD camera followed by an evaluating unit, wherein, advantageously, an incident illumination is likewise effected through the specimen vessel or specimen carrier and the illumination is used to excite specimen emission, preferably fluorescence excitation.

Abstract: An absorbent article, particularly a sanitary napkin comprises a liquid pervious topsheet (12), a liquid impervious backsheet (14) and an absorbent core (16, 18) interposed between the topsheet (12) and the backsheet (14). The core comprises a longitudinal center line and two edges. At least one liquid directing barrier structure is applied to the core and/or the topsheet on either side of the longitudinal center line thereof between the center line and the longitudinal edges.

Abstract: Apparatus for measuring the color of glass, particularly pieces of broken glass relies upon simultaneously measuring the glass transmission in different spectral regions. The glass pieces travel along a conveying path between a light source and a light sensor containing a plural number of optical filters and groups of photoelectric detectors. The groups of photoelectric detectors are disposed at an end face of respective substantially cylindrical tubes. Tube axes enclose an angle and intersect in a conveying plane defined by the conveying path. The optical filters have different spectral transmission regions. Optical lens systems are retained intermediate the respective groups of photoelectric detectors and an opposite end face of the respective tubes. Each optical lens system images the conveying plane at the associated group of photoelectric detectors.

Abstract: Cyclohexylcarbonitrile derivatives of the formula I ##STR1## wherein Y is ##STR2## X is --COO--, --O--CO, --CH.sub.2 O--, --OCH.sub.2 -- or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --, and R is alkyl or alkoxy each of 1-12 carbon atoms, with the proviso that Y is not ##STR3## when X is --COO--; and all cyclohexyl rings are trans, are valuable liquid crystalline components.
