  • Publication number: 20120297849
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for hot-rolling a slab (1), especially a steel slab, the slab (1) being subjected to at least two shaping steps at different temperatures in a hot-rolling mill (2), the slab (1) being cooled between two such shaping steps. In order to prevent ferrite from forming too soon during the hot-rolling, the slab (1) is cooled such that the lateral end sections (3, 4) of the slab (1) are cooled with a lower cooling efficiency than a center section (5) of the slab (1). The invention further relates to a hot-rolling mill (2) for hot-rolling a slab.

  • Patent number: 8164216
Abstract: A modular electrical system including a first current-emitting source module and a first current-consuming sink module which is connected to the first current-emitting source module is provided. The first sink module has a first sink identification means to identify maximum power requirement of the first sink module. The object of providing power balancing between a first source module and a first sink module is achieved in that the first source module has a first source identification means for identifying the power capacity of the first source module, wherein in order to calculate a power ratio of the system the first sink identification means and the first source identification means are connected to a two-wire line for the purpose of generating a differential voltage.

  • Publication number: 20120024435
Abstract: A method and device for controlled straightening and cooling of a wide metal strip, especially a steel strip or sheet metal, running out of a hot rolled strip rolling mill, using pinching rollers arranged in the moving direction of the strip behind vertical double rollers, said pinching rollers producing a tensile stress acting in a longitudinal direction. According to the invention, the range of use of conventional sheet metal cooling systems can be extended to obtain a more even surface of said steel strip with an increased cooling effect. This is achieved by displacing the metal strip or sheet metal between a pre-straightening machine and splash cooling facility in defined conditions of tensile stress by adjusting the tensile stress and by cooling said strip or sheet metal inside said splash cooling facility between successive pairs of pinching rollers and by additionally controlling the tensile stress.

  • Patent number: 8043086
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for cooling or quenching slabs and sheets (2) with water in a cooling pond (1, 14) wherein the slabs and the sheets (2), previously set upright by a tilting device (18), are lowered and temporarily maintained in position on edge. The inventive method is characterized in that the slabs and the sheets are sprayed with the cooling water. Therefor, the cooling pond (1) has, on both sides of the lowered slabs and sheets (2) jet devices (10; 11a, 11b) directed towards the surfaces of the large sides of the slabs or sheets and connected to a cooling water circuit which comprises means for reducing the water filling supply from a maximum upper water level (13b) to a lower water level (13a).

  • Patent number: 7874569
Abstract: A displacement device for a fifth wheel traction coupling with two base bars and a fifth wheel traction coupling supporting top part which includes two bearing chocks which are slidingly fixed to the base bars and telescoping in a locked position thereof into each base bar by means locking elements with the aid of a rack rail. The known per se sliding devices are expensive due to the production of the base bars, since the rack rails are provided with a toothed profile prior to be welded. A low-cost sliding device is producible in a simple manner. For this purpose, at least one base bar is provided with spaced rest windows on the axial extension thereof for receiving the locking elements.
