  • Publication number: 20050114572
Abstract: A network service platform apparatus employing an IEEE 1394 protocol is disclosed. The network service platform apparatus includes a first optical transceiver connected to an external service gateway to receive downstream data from the external service gateway and transfer upstream data to the external service gateway, a first IEEE 1394 physical unit connected to the first optical transceiver to perform a physical layer operation of an IEEE 1394 protocol with respect to the downstream data, and to transfer the upstream data to the first optical transceiver, and an IEEE 1394 link unit connected to the first IEEE 1394 physical unit to deliver isochronous data of the downstream data by performing a link layer operation of the IEEE 1394 protocol, and to send asynchronous data to be delivered to the service gate to the first IEEE 1394 physical unit as upstream data by performing the link layer operation of the IEEE 1394 protocol with respect to the asynchronous data.

  • Publication number: 20050101246
Abstract: A subscriber distribution system for distributing broadcasting data to subscribers through a subscriber network. The subscriber distribution system has a PID filter section for checking contents of an inputted MPEG2 MPTS frame and splitting the MPEG2 MPTS frame into SPTS, a table regenerator for regenerating a PAT and a PMT that correspond with the SPTS by changing contents in the PAT and the PMT. An SPTS splitting and storing section stores the SPTS at high speed in a memory area of a buffer, which is assigned to subscribers according to PIDS. A subscriber distribution section selecting the SPTS requested by subscribers and storing the SPTS in the memory area of the buffer assigned to subscribers. A control section receives MPTS information from a higher network to provide MPTS information to the PID filter section and the table regenerator, and receives a request for a program from subscribers, and transfers the request to the subscriber distribution section.

  • Publication number: 20050030902
Abstract: An IEEE 1394-based unidirectional ring system for an indoor backbone network is disclosed. In the ring system, an RG is used for connection to an external large-capacity network, and an SG is connected to the RG. The SG functions as a clock master to synchronize whole clock signals in the system, manages traffic in the indoor backbone network, manages buses in the indoor backbone network, and monitors the physical states of transmission lines in indoor backbone network. The SG and the SPs form a unidirectional ring structure. A plurality of SPs is configured to load the user data over the indoor backbone network or extract user-desired data from the indoor backbone network to provide user-desired services to a user.

  • Publication number: 20030133460
Abstract: A GE-PON (Gigabit Ethernet-Passive Optical Network) system is provided that configures upstream and downstream frames on the basis of a variable-length Ethernet frame. The GE-PON system employs TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) for upstream packet transmission in a tree structure for a point-to-multipoint connection. A structure of a frame format is also provided that is capable of effectively accommodating Gigabit Ethernet traffic in the GE-PON system and a method is provided for implementing various functions such as initial ONU registration, late ONU registration, ranging, and dynamic bandwidth allocation in the GE-PON system.

  • Publication number: 20030091045
Abstract: A GE-PON (Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network) system and media access control method for the same are disclosed. In the GE-PON system, by employing MAC attributes of the gigabit Ethernet frames, an OLT (Optical Line Termination) transmits a downstream window containing both a control frame having timeslot position and size information in association with at least two ONUs and Ethernet frames to an ODN (Optical Distribution Network). The OLT analyzes contents of RAUs in an upstream window transmitted from the ONUs in a TDMA method and received from the ODN, and permits timeslot position and size corresponding to each of the ONUs. A plurality of ONUs, connected to the ODN, have their respective timeslot position and size allocated in response to their respective information contained in the control frame of the downstream window. RAU frames are transmitted having queue information and Ethernet frames associated with the allocated timeslots.
