  • Publication number: 20050193566
Abstract: A handle for a utility knife includes a housing made up of two or more portions. In one embodiment, a manually operable member for use in releasing the blade is retained to at least one portion of the housing and does not become separated from the housing when the housing is in an open state. In another embodiment, a catch for engaging the blade extends from a support member that is slidably movable within the housing. In another embodiment, the housing is formed of metal and a nose portion is formed of a metal that is more wear resistant than the rest of the housing, in order to improve the durability of the nose portion.

  • Publication number: 20050188541
Abstract: A utility knife has a blade carrier defining a blade support surface movably mounted in a housing between retracted and extended positions. A catch is mounted on the blade carrier and is movable between a first position engagable with a blade seated on the blade carrier and substantially preventing the blade from moving relative to the blade carrier, and a second position spaced away from the blade located on the blade carrier and permitting removal of the blade from the blade carrier. An actuator is mounted on the blade carrier and is operable to move the blade carrier between the retracted and extended positions to, in turn, move a blade located on the blade carrier between retracted and extended positions, and move the catch between the first and second positions to release a blade from the blade carrier. The housing has a nose portion that defines the blade aperture and is made of a more wear-resistant material than the other portions of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20050159521
Abstract: Reversible adhesive compositions, methods of making reversible adhesive compositions, and kits containing the components required to make reversible adhesive compositions are provided. A reversible adhesive composition can comprise a mixture including a free radical polymerization initiator activated by actinic light, an alkoxylated acrylate, and a pharmaceutically acceptable filler. This reversible adhesive mixture can be cured by exposure to actinic light. The cured reversible adhesive composition loses it adhesive properties when exposed to ultrasonic waves/vibrations.

  • Publication number: 20050117531
Abstract: A novel system is presented for providing computer telephony services to remote, mobile users. In one form, a server communicates wirelessly with a remote, mobile, personal communication subsystem that includes a wireless voice communication device and a wireless data communication device, through a voice channel and a data channel, respectively. Telephonic communications passing between the wireless voice communication device and the server are controlled by commands and/or informed by communications through the wireless data communication device. The voice channel may carry incoming and/or outgoing calls distributed by an ACD, the calls being accompanied by information transmitted through the data channel that might traditionally have been presented in a “screen pop” or other informational display. In another form, users of the subsystems request and/or receive updates through the data channel regarding the availability status of one or more other users of the system.

  • Publication number: 20050108367
Abstract: A chassis houses a marking engine, a scanner, and various input and output ports allowing devices to connect to the hub for data transfer, sharing, and collaboration. The preferred configuration includes two towers with a display and a work surface supported therebeteween. The display can have another display on its rear face, and both can have cameras and microphones mounted thereon, as well as speakers. The scanner is preferably embedded in the work surface. The towers house various components of the hub. A base can be included that supports both towers and any users using the hub. Preferably, the base includes pressure sensors to let the hub know when users are present.

  • Publication number: 20050097608
Abstract: A hub allowing collaboration and communication, including delayed and secure printing, faxing, telephone service, internet and e-mail access, and data transfer between personal electronic devices and the hub and/or other personal electronic devices and/or remote devices. Embodiments operate on a fee-for-service basis and can include a payment acceptance module. Embodiments include a large main display on which advertisements and information can be displayed during periods of non-use. Additional displays can be included with associated input devices to allow multiple users to use the hub simultaneously. Embodiments can include networking ports, wired and/or wireless, with which users can connect devices to the hub for data transfer, sharing, and collaboration.

  • Publication number: 20050054553
Abstract: Liquid fabric softening compositions comprise a flame retardant. The liquid fabric softening compositions preferably further comprise a fabric softening active. In another embodiment of the invention, the present compositions comprise a flame retardant, wherein the flame retardant is a phosphorus-containing fabric softener. In another embodiment of the invention, the present compositions comprise no greater than about 21%, by weight of the composition, of a fabric softener active and at least about 0.5%, by weight of the composition, of a silicone material. The present compositions can be used to treat all types of fabrics to provide improved fabric softening and freshness, while minimizing the risk of flammability associated with cotton-containing fluffier fabrics, such as fleece and terry cloth, when treated with liquid fabric softening compositions.
