  • Patent number: 8496178
Abstract: Systems and techniques for image based bar code scanning. A rotating spinner is positioned to reflect images to an imaging device within the scanner so that a field of view of the scanner encompasses images reflected by the spinner to the imaging device. The rotation of the spinner causes the field of view of the scanner to change. Mirrors positioned and oriented to reflect images to the spinner and from the spinner to the imaging device further shift the field of view of the scanner as the rotating spinner causes images reflected from different mirrors to be delivered to the imaging device so that both cashier and customer side imaging sensing may be employed. The image field may be automatically shifted from cashier side imaging to customer side imaging, shifted based on detection of customer presentation of an item in a customer presentation window field of view, or manually shifted by a cashier.

  • Publication number: 20130075472
Abstract: Techniques are addressed for control of an imaging scanner to supplement a laser scan line based scanner. Upon detection of the imaging scanner in a docked position, a lighting arrangement is automatically lit and the imager is triggered. Upon detection of the imaging scanner not in the docked position, the imaging scanner is not automatically lit, but rather is only lit upon manual trigger activation. As an alternative to the automatic lighting when docked, the lighting may be cued upon the imaging scanner being docked and an analysis of laser scan video detecting a barcode like object or upon detecting a barcode like object in the image field of the imaging scanner.

  • Publication number: 20130045623
Abstract: A connector includes a cable tray configured to receive and retain a cable in a stable position and couple with a top cap configured to create an electrical connection with the cable as the top cap is manipulated in a predetermined manner while coupled with the cable tray. An upper surface of the cable tray is configured to receive the cable (e.g., while the cable is generally parallel with the longitudinal axis of the cable tray). The cable tray also includes a finger extending beyond the first end for some distance longitudinally. The finger includes a protrusion that protrudes to some extent in a transverse direction so that a cable-accommodating gap is defined between the protrusion and the first end. The protrusion is configured to bear against the cable and retain the cable in the stable position when the cable is inserted between the protrusion and the first end.

  • Publication number: 20110243808
Abstract: An autoclave (1) comprises a carrier framework (4) within which a drum (8) is rotatably mounted and rotated by a drive motor (12). The drum (8) defines a hollow interior region within which the waste material is treated, and an open mouth (15) at one end of the drum (8) is closed by a hingedly mounted closure member (16). The carrier framework (4) is pivotally coupled to a ground engaging mounting framework (2) by decoupleable first and second pivot mountings (5,6) at respective opposite ends (10,11) of the carrier framework (4) so that on release of the second pivot mountings (6) the carrier framework (4) and the drum (8) are pivotal about the first pivot mountings (5) by first main drive rams (19) from a horizontal operating state to an inclined loading state with the drum (8) inclined upwardly to the open mouth (15) for loading waste to be treated into the drum (8).
