Abstract: A method of drilling a bore hole in a fractured formation. A drill pipe is deployed into the borehole, whereby an annular space is formed between the drill pipe and the borehole wall. A drilling fluid is pumped, by means of primary pumps, into the borehole via an internal conduit of the drill pipe and a drill pipe fluid outlet present in the vicinity of a distal end of the drill pipe. The annular space is pressure sealed using a pressure seal such as a rotating head on a BOP. A well control fluid is pumped into the annular space via a well control conduit that fluidly connects the annular space, in a location between the pressure seal and the drill pipe fluid outlet, to a backpressure system. The well control fluid is pressure-balanced against the pressure seal and the backpressure system.

Abstract: Metadata are provided to video generators using a syndication protocol, so that the video generators may produce interactive video content for television subscribers. Metadata relating to source media content are transformed in a computer process from a storage format into a syndication format. Relevant metadata to transform are chosen to reflect the type of interactivity desired by a television service provider and the demands of the video generation process. The transformed metadata are published according to a syndication protocol, so that another computer process that participates in the protocol may generate the interactive video content using the metadata, the source media content, and subscriber commands.

Abstract: An interactive information distribution system includes service provider equipment for generating an information stream that is coupled to an information channel and transmitted to subscriber equipment. The service provider also generates a command signal that is coupled to a command channel and transmitted to the subscriber equipment. The service provider also receives information manipulation requests from the subscriber via a back channel. A communication network supporting the information channel, command channel and back channel is coupled between the service provider equipment and the subscriber equipment.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for verifying an individual's identify and preventing identify theft. The system comprises at least one input device, third party databases, network and processing unit. The input device is used to enter an individual's consumer identity information, while the third party databases stores identity data. The network communicates with the third party databases and the at least one input device, while the processing unit communicates with at least one of the input devices, third-party databases and the network. The processing unit contains instructions for receiving the individual's consumer identify information from the at least one input device; searching the third party databases using the received identify information to identify at least one pattern of interest in at least one alert category; scoring at least the one pattern of interest as a function of at least one Red Flag Rule; and communicating the score.

Abstract: Systems and methods for recording a broadcast video program are disclosed. The system is coupled to a television of a user. The broadcast video program is displayed on the user's television and includes associated user selectable material. The system has an input for receiving the broadcast video program and the associated selectable material. A user interface device operates with the system allowing a user to select the selectable material. In response to selection of the selectable material, a processing module requests interactive content related to the selectable material from a processing office. In response to the selection of the selectable material, the system causes a video recorder to automatically begin recording of the broadcast video program. The interactive content is then displayed on the user's television.

Abstract: Access to interactive content at a client device through the use of triggers is disclosed. The client device is coupled to a television communication network and receives an encoded broadcast video stream containing at least one trigger. The client device decodes the encoded broadcast video stream and parses the broadcast video stream for triggers. As the broadcast video stream is parsed, the stream is output to a display device. When a trigger is identified, the client device automatically tunes to an interactive content channel. The client device sends a signal indicative of the trigger through the television communication network to the processing office. The processing office can then use the information contained within the trigger signal to provide content to the client device. The content may be interactive content, static content, or the broadcast program stitched with interactive or static content. The user of the client device can then interact with any interactive content.

Abstract: An MPEG object is an object-oriented data structure that may be used in the creation of interactive MPEG video stream. The MPEG object data structure includes an MPEG object interface defining data received by the MPEG object and data output by the MPEG object. The MPEG object data structure further includes either one or more MPEG video elements or an association to one or more MPEG video elements. The MPEG video elements are preferably defined as MPEG slices that include a plurality of encoded macroblocks. Additionally, the data structure may provide a method for receiving input through the MPEG object interface and in response to input from the client device outputting an MPEG video element. In certain configurations, the MPEG object contains a method that maintains state data for the MPEG object. The state data may be used to select between a plurality of MPEG elements to output.

Abstract: A system for creating composite encoded video from two or more encoded video sources in the encoded domain. In response to user input, a markup language-based graphical layout is retrieved. The graphical layout includes frame locations within a composite frame for at least a first encoded source and a second encoded source. The system either retrieves or receives the first and second encoded sources. The sources include block-based transform encoded data. The system also includes a stitcher module for stitching together the first encoded source and the second encoded source according to the frame locations of the graphical layout to form an encoded frame. The system outputs an encoded video stream that is transmitted to a client device associated with the user. In response to further user input, the system updates the state of an object model and replaces all or a portion of one or more frames of the encoded video stream. The system may be used with MPEG encoded video.

Abstract: Drilling system and method for drilling a bore hole into an earth formation, the bore hole having an inside wall. A drill string reaches into the bore hole and leaves a drilling fluid return passage between the drill string and the bore hole inside wall. A drilling fluid discharge conduit is in fluid communication with the drilling fluid return passage, and pump means are provided for pumping a drilling fluid through the drill string into the bore hole and to the drilling fluid discharge conduit via the drilling fluid return passage. The drilling fluid back pressure is controlled utilizing back pressure control means for controlling back pressure means. The system further provides fluid injection means comprising an injection fluid supply passage fluidly connecting an injection fluid supply with the drilling fluid return passage and further comprising an injection fluid pressure sensor arranged to provide a pressure signal in accordance with an injection fluid pressure in the injection fluid supply passage.

Abstract: Supported stereospecific catalysts and processes for the stereotactic propagation of a polymer chain derived from ethylenically unsaturated monomers which contain three or more carbon atoms or which are substituted vinyl compounds, specifically alpha olefins, particularly the polymerization of propylene to produce syndiotactic or isotactic polypropylene. The supported metallocene catalyst comprises a stereospecific metallocene catalyst and a co-catalyst component comprising at least one of an alkyl alumoxane and an alkylaluminum compound. Both the metallocene catalyst and the co-catalyst are supported on a particulate silica support comprising silica particles having an average particle size of 5-40 microns and an average effective pore size of 50-200 angstroms. The silica support further has a differential pore size distribution of a pore volume of at least 0.01 cm3/g. within a range having a maximum pore width of no more than 300 angstroms.

Abstract: A drilling system for drilling a bore hole into an earth formation, the bore hole having an inside wall. A drill string reaches into the bore hole from a surface, leaving a drilling fluid return passage between the drill string and the bore hole inside wall. A bottom hole assembly is supported by the drill string, and a drilling fluid discharge conduit is provided in fluid communication with the drilling fluid return passage. A drilling fluid is pumped through the drill string into the bore hole and to the drilling fluid discharge conduit via the drilling fluid return passage. Means are provided for obtaining information on the existing down hole pressure of the drilling fluid in the vicinity of the bottom hole assembly and back pressure means for controlling the drilling fluid back pressure.

Abstract: Techniques for transmitting multiple “slices” of information for a particular location of a user interface, which can be used to present more information to a viewer for a limited-size viewing area. Multiple slices can be associated with a particular slice location of a user interface. In a first slice delivery and presentation scheme, multiple slices for a particular location of an interactive program guide (IPG) page are transmitted from the head-end at different times, and the slices can be appropriately time stamped for presentation at the designated times. In a second scheme, multiple slices are concurrently transmitted for a particular location of an IPG page, and one of the multiple slices can be selected for processing and display. In a third scheme, one slice is transmitted for each slice location, and additional slices can be transmitted for a particular location upon receiving a request from the terminal.

Abstract: A new process for creating a decorative surface on a cast concrete tile. A mold is prepared by coating with mold release. An aggregate of water, coloring dye, sand, portland cement, and pea gravel is pre-mixed. Dampened baking soda is sprinkled randomly into the bottom surface of the mold (which will bear against what becomes the top surface of the cast tile). The pre-mixed aggregate is then added to the mold. The aggregate is then screed and compressed in the mold to minimize voids. A plastic cover is next added to reduce the moisture loss rate and increase the curing time. Once the concrete is cured, the mold is separated into its component pieces and the cast concrete tile is removed. The upper surface of the cast tile will have been etched and otherwise transformed by the dampened baking soda, producing a surface texture similar to limestone.
