  • Patent number: 5573214
Abstract: A cup holding assembly for use in vehicles includes a strap having upper and lower ends, a cup holder, a support means for supporting the cup holder on the strap, at least one mounting means for mounting the assembly to any of a number of interior vehicle structures, and a leveling means for adjusting the orientation of the cup holder with respect to the vehicle. A first mounting means is provided adjacent the upper end of the strap, and includes a tongue protruding downward from the upper end, the strap and the tongue defining a hook, a suction cup, and a clip means for clipping the suction cup to the upper end. The first mounting means allows the assembly to be mounted to a door of the vehicle having a shiftable window and space for receiving the shiftable window. A second mounting means may be provided adjacent the lower end, and includes a mounting clip which engages a headrest support for mounting the assembly on the headrest support.

  • Patent number: 5474272
Abstract: A cup-holder is provided for portable use at football games, theaters, or the like. The cup-holder is securely fastened to a top surface of an arm rest of a seat at the game. The holder includes a base having flat top and bottom surfaces. The bottom surface of the base rests flush against the seat arm rest or may fit over the arm rest. The top of the base is flat to allow the user to rest his/her arm thereon. The holder includes a cup receptacle formed from adjacent, contiguous rings which are separated with a flexible bridge. VELCRO fastening tape straps are used to secure the holder to the arm rest. Also, the top surface of the base may include indicia such as a team logo, name, team schedule, etc.

  • Patent number: 5447401
Abstract: A fastener is formed with an elongated threaded portion defined by a central shank and a thread formed on the shank, a neck collinear with the shank, and a head provided with a recess adapted to receive a tool for rotating the fastener. The shank of the threaded portion includes a cylindrical body and a tapered penetrating point extending longitudinally from the body. The thread is provided with a constant diameter section along the cylindrical body and a tapered section along the tapered penetrating point. The constant diameter section defines a major diameter that is more than about double the minor diameter defined by the body of the shank. The thread defines a pitch greater than the cross-sectional thickness of the thread along the shank so that the cylindrical shank is exposed within each pitch of the thread.

  • Patent number: 5444876
Abstract: Protective eyewear having a wrap-around type lens and a frame which surrounds the upper and side edges of the lens. The frame includes a slot to receive the lens, and the slot has spaced pawls within the slot. The lens includes mating detents within the face of the lens to receive the pawls and thus retain the lens to the frame. The lateral edges of the frame include upper and lower struts and a bracing bar extends vertically between the struts to define an airflow opening. Rearward of the bracing bar a paint hinge posts extend from the struts in coaxial spaced opposed relation. The temple for the eyewear includes a hinge end having a pivot hole for receiving the hinge posts. The pivot hole includes a cutout with a height corresponding to that of one of the hinge posts, and a width slightly less than that of this hinge post. The temple may thus be mounted and removed from the hinge posts by inserting a first hinge post into the hinge hole, and then snapping the cutout over the remaining hinge post.

  • Patent number: 5126927
Abstract: A flashlight includes a barrel portion for enclosing and retaining batteries and comprising an end for accepting a movable bulb enclosure. The moveable bulb enclosure engages the end of the barrel so that the bulb enclosure is axially movable along the barrel portion. A bulb holder is provided at the second end for removably holding a bulb such that the bulb is relatively stationary during axial movement of the bulb enclosure. A stop is provided on the end of the barrel portion for preventing complete removal of the movable bulb enclosure from the barrel portion.
