  • Patent number: 7352298
Abstract: A method of data compression, for example for images or audio signals, comprises encoding the data using a transform such as a wavelet transform or a DCT, grouping the transform coefficients by most significant bit, and/or bit value, and transmitting them group by group. Where the transform uses a code book, such as matching pursuits, the coefficients may further be grouped by code book value. In one embodiment, the method allows the data to be described entirely by the positions of the coefficients, and the groupings, without any need to store or transmit any coefficient value information whatsoever.

  • Publication number: 20070089805
Abstract: A wood pelleter production system for wood chips and the like, having a wood chip infeed deck with integrated dryer deck with an array of inverted louvers that allow air or heated air and flue gas mix to flow up through the chip flow. The chips flow from the infeed dryer deck to a hammer mill to refine the wood chips, the wood chips are transferred within a re-circulatory airflow system, to a refined wood chip dispenser, for consistent delivery and monitoring of the refined wood chips to a chip pelleter. Below the pelleter is a pellet cooling means that cools the pellets as the pellets collect and are drop through a cycling grate onto a pellet transfer means with airflow screens for separating wood fines into a re-circulation airflow system which includes a means for separation of wood particles, wood fines and dust from being released into the atmosphere.

  • Publication number: 20060253216
Abstract: Method, system and program product are disclosed for determining productivity for a tool including a plurality of processing modules. The invention provides an understanding of a relationship between measured variables and overall tool speed by calculating computational components for any empty module, any module speed diversity and any idle tool event, i.e., the potential productivity detractors for the tool. An overall productivity based on each of the computational components may also be determined.

  • Publication number: 20060114890
Abstract: An Internet radio device is provided, having a dedicated Internet Protocol (IP) telephony mode for practicing telephony and for enabling one-touch initiation and call connection of an IP telephone call to a recipient device. The internet radio comprises, an IP telephony software application for enabling IP telephony, a modem for accessing and connecting to a data-packet-network, a sound circuitry for facilitating audio conversion and transmission, and a programmable array of input indicia for enabling one touch initiation and connection of an IP telephony call operating in the telephony mode. When a user selects the IP telephony mode IP telephony calling is enabled wherein the user may activate a pre-programmed indicia for the purpose of initiating and establishing an IP telephony call to an intended recipient device.

  • Publication number: 20060096856
Abstract: A shielded encapsulated vacuum interrupter with a ceramic vacuum chamber and opposing conductive end caps is provided. One end cap is electrically connected to a fixed contact, while an opposing end cap is connected to a moving contact. The moving contact is actuatable with the fixed contact for opening or closing an electric circuit. A floating shield inside the vacuum chamber connected to the vacuum chamber ceramic wall and spaced from the fixed and moving contacts is isolated and has a floating voltage potential. A portion of the vacuum chamber exterior ceramic wall is coated with a semi-conductive material and conductive voltage screens enclose a portion of the vacuum chamber exterior and are electrically connected to each conductive end cap of the vacuum chamber. The chamber and connected screens are encapsulated in a molded dielectric housing.

  • Patent number: 6990145
Abstract: A method of video motion estimation is described for determining the dominant motion in a video image. The dominant motion is defined by a parametric transform, for example a similarity transform. In the preferred embodiment, selected pairs of blocks in one frame are traced by a block matching algorithm into a subsequent frame, and their change in position determined. From that information, an individual parameter estimate is determined. The process is repeated for many pairs of blocks, to create a large number of parameter estimates. These estimates are then sorted into an ordered list, the list is preferably differentiated, and the best global value for the parameter is determined from the differentiated list. One approach is to take the minimum value of the differentiated list, selected from the longest run of values which fall below a threshold value. Alternatively, the ordered list may be examined for flat areas, without explicit differentiation.

  • Patent number: 6913175
Abstract: A load carrier has a pair of rails each being affixed to one of the two side walls of the open bed of a pickup truck. Each rail has a longitudinally extending slot along which a bar slides. A bracket is connected to each bar. The two ends of a stringer are connected to the two brackets so that stringer extends transversely across the open bed for supporting a load. Instead of bars, clamps are used to connect the brackets to the rails.
