  • Publication number: 20090147428
Abstract: A metal case for preventing electrostatic discharge includes an electromagnetic bandgap restricting current generated by electrostatic discharge and formed by arrangement of unit cells. Further, a method of forming a metal case preventing an electrostatic discharge includes forming an electromagnetic bandgap by arranging a plurality of unit cells; and forming a metal case having the electromagnetic bandgap to restrict current generated by the electrostatic discharge.

  • Publication number: 20090027279
Abstract: A method of reducing electromagnetic field using metamaterial and a portable or wearable terminal having a structure for reducing an electromagnetic field using a metamaterial are provided. The method includes deciding a body contacting part of the portable or wearable terminal; and disposing an electromagnetic field reducing unit formed of metamaterial between an antenna and the decided body contacting part, wherein the metamaterial including a conductor and a dielectric adjusts a permittivity.

  • Patent number: 6995714
Abstract: An internal antenna for use in a mobile handset is formed of a single conductive plate. The internal antenna includes a first meander-shaped portion having one or more slots, including a first bent portion bent downward at a side edge of the first meander-shaped portion; a second meander-shaped portion having one or more slots, including a second bent portion bent downward at an end of the second meander-shaped portion; and a common portion physically connected to the first and the second meander-shaped portion. The first meander-shaped portion together with the common portion forms a first radiating element and the second meander-shaped portion together with the common portion forms a second radiating element, the first radiating element having a first resonant frequency and the second radiating element having a second resonant frequency.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 14, 2003
Date of Patent: February 7, 2006
Assignee: Information and Communications University Educational Foundation
    Inventors: Dong-Uk Sim, Seong-Ook Park
