Abstract: An image retrieval system includes an image entry unit configured to input an image. A descriptor determining unit receives the image and transforms the image into an intermediate image to generate a descriptor of the image, for example, utilizing the distance transform (DT) application. An image comparing unit compares the image with a plurality of candidate images by comparing the descriptor of the image with descriptors of the plurality of candidate images. Finally, a retrieving unit retrieves one or more candidate images similar to the input image based on the comparison of their descriptors.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for setting up a network for IP communication between mobile terminals. A first mobile terminal determines a second mobile terminal that will communicate with the first mobile terminal. The first mobile terminal generates a network setup message including network setup information of the second mobile terminal. The network setup message is sent from the first mobile terminal to the second mobile terminal. The first mobile terminal IP communicates with the second mobile terminal, which performs network setup based on the network setup information received from the first mobile terminal.

Abstract: A quality of service (QoS) securing apparatus and method using a communication protocol is provided. The QoS securing method is performed by a reception side that is receiving data from a transmission side. The method includes generating information about a changed communication environment according to a change in a communication environment of the reception side, and transmitting the information to the transmission side. An exchange of information about a communication environment using the communication protocol between the reception side and the transmission side can inform the transmission side about resources of the reception side, link characteristics, characteristics of a link on a transmission path, etc., thereby securing a QoS of data communication between the reception side and the transmission side.

The a multi-layer substrate has at least one substrate layer, has at least one first chip region and at least one second chip region in a lowermost substrate layer, configures a transmission line transition of a vertical structure for transmitting a signal from at least one integrated circuit chip coupled in the first chip region in a coaxial shape or in a form of a Co-Planar Waveguide guide (CPW), and has an LGP coupling pad for connecting with a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) in the lowermost layer. The at least one integrated circuit chip is coupled in the first chip region and the second chip region. The PCB is connected with the multi-layer substrate using the LGA coupling via the LGA coupling pad.

Abstract: A fingerprint matching system includes a first minutiae obtaining unit and a second minutiae obtaining unit adapted to obtain minutiae information of first and second fingerprints. On the minutiae of the first fingerprint, a deformable mesh is constructed by a mesh construction unit, and a mesh transformation unit is used to transform a state of the deformable mesh, thereby obtaining a distortion-compensated first fingerprint. Based on the distortion-compensated first fingerprint, a matching determination unit determines whether the first fingerprint matches the second fingerprint or not.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for constructing a user profile using a content tag, a method of recommending digital content by using a user profile including a tag included in the digital content and a preference value for the tag. According to the methods and apparatus, a user profile is generated by using a content tag, and thus the taste of the user according to digital content consumption can be expressed in more varied ways. Also, by suggesting a method of generating a tag from web content, construction of a user profile for digital content having no tag is enabled. Furthermore, a tag extracted from digital content used by a user is included in a profile and it can be used for a variety of purposes, such as expansion of a comparison scope, use of preference keywords, providing of content links, and expansion of search scope.

A communication connection is achieved through a dynamic IP between a gateway inside the home and an apparatus outside the home in a smart grid network environment, so a user can easily access in-home services based on a dynamic IP. In addition, unauthorized traffic, which may be introduced into the home, is automatically blocked, so that the quality of the home network service is improved.
