  • Patent number: 11006923
Abstract: An ultrasound system includes a 3D imaging probe and a needle guide which attaches to the probe for guidance of needle insertion into a volumetric region which can be scanned by the 3D imaging probe. The needle guide responds to the insertion of a needle through the guide by identifying a plane for scanning by the probe which is the insertion plane through which the needle will pass during insertion. The orientation of the insertion plane is communicated to the probe to cause the probe to scan the identified plane and produce images of the needle as it travels through the insertion plane.

  • Patent number: 11003262
Abstract: An input knob for use with a touch screen device includes stationary and moveable members. The stationary member adheres to a touch screen of the device. The moveable member moves relative to the stationary member, and is secured to the surface via the stationary member. The moveable member produces touch events on the touch surface as bits of data in response to movement of the moveable member. The moveable member may include a rotary encoder. The stationary member may include conductive pads in contact with the surface and in selective contact with a conductive mass of the moveable member. The moveable member may be ring-shaped, removeable and repositionable with respect to the surface, and/or constructed of or coated by dielectric materials. The knob may lack a direct hardwired electrical connection to or through the surface. A display system includes the touch screen device and knob.

  • Patent number: 10993634
Abstract: In an automated methodology for in vivo image-guided cell patch clamping, a cell patch clamping device is moved into position and targeted to a specific cell using automated image-guided techniques. Cell contact is determined by analyzing the temporal series of measured resistance levels at the clamping device as it is moved. The difference between successive resistance levels is compared to a threshold, which must be exceeded before cell contact is assumed. Pneumatic control methods are used to achieve gigaseal formation and cell break-in, leading to whole-cell patch clamp formation. An automated robotic system capable of performing this methodology automatically performs patch clamping in vivo, automatically locating cells through image guidance and by analyzing the temporal sequence of electrode impedance changes.

  • Publication number: 20210049774
Abstract: A system, components, and methodologies are provided for image data processing and subsequent use to detect and/or identify objects and object movement in such image data to enable assistance, automation, control and/or documentation regarding transportation vehicle movement. An affine contour filter provides the ability to extract precise sub-pixel roots of contours that represent boundaries of blobs in an image that undergoes small affine changes such as translation, rotation and scale. Thereby lateral contour tracking may be performed wherein movement of an object may be tracked within the field of view of a camera by aligning the contours associated with the object in space-time. As a result, the size and shape of the object to be tracked need not be specified ahead of time.

  • Patent number: 10920645
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for monitoring a NOx storage capacity of a passive NOx adsorption catalyst (PNA) included in an exhaust gas after-treatment system of an engine. In one example, a method may include, after an engine cold start and prior to an exhaust gas temperature reaching an upper threshold temperature, indicating degradation of the PNA based on an amount of NOx measured downstream of the PNA during a fuel cut event and while the exhaust gas temperature is between a lower threshold temperature and the upper threshold temperature. In this way, degradation of the NOx storage capacity may be inferred based on an amount of NOx released from the PNA and independent of a NOx storage measurement.

  • Patent number: 10753170
Abstract: A composite circular connector seal, or an assembly comprising a plurality of such seals, may be engineered to seal across a predetermined tolerance band for such seals by using two substantially circular seal elements sized to slidingly fit about a tubular that has a positive and negative outer diameter tolerance range, where each seal element is terminated at one circumferential edge with a packer cap, and a core element disposed intermediate the two substantially circular seal elements at their respective non-packer cap terminated circumferential edges. The two substantially circular seal elements comprise an organic thermoplastic polymer and the core seal element, which typically comprises a synthetic rubber, is also typically molded to the two seal elements at their respective non-packer cap terminated circumferential edges.

  • Patent number: 10695036
Abstract: Provided herein is a magnetic apparatus for collecting superparamagnetic particles from a subject. The superparamagnetic particles are previously injected into the subject and have ligands bound thereto that are specific for one or more non-cell biomarkers. In one embodiment, the superparamagnetic particles are injected into and retrieved from a cavity such as a joint cavity. These compositions and methods allow for the sequestration and removal of inflammatory mediators, as both a diagnostic of the local immune response and a therapeutic that can reduce inflammation in the local disease environment.

  • Patent number: 10618119
Abstract: A cutting tool including a body, a blade, a feed shaft, and a locking member. The body defines an axis and is adapted to be received by a spindle of a power tool. The blade is removably supportable on the body and rotatable about the axis for cutting a workpiece. A feed shaft is removably supportable in the body and rotatable about the axis for engaging a workpiece, the feed shaft being mountable in the cutting tool to engage and at least partially restrain the blade. The feed shaft further includes an opening transverse to the axis. The locking member is engageable with the body and with the opening in the feed shaft. Advancement of the locking member into the opening tightens both the blade and the feed shaft to the body.
