  • Patent number: 10287938
Abstract: A method for a vehicle comprises responsive to installation of a new exhaust particulate filter, doping fuel with an ash-producing additive, and combusting the doped fuel to produce ash, wherein the ash deposits as an ash coating on the new exhaust particulate filter. In this way, a filtration efficiency of an exhaust particulate filter can be increased quickly as compared to a filter with no deposited ash coating, inexpensively as compared to conventional methods using membranes, and with a lower back pressure drop as compared to conventional methods.

  • Publication number: 20190000562
Abstract: A registration system for medical navigation includes a shape sensing device (SSD) (104, 504) having at least one sensor (450, 505) for providing corresponding sensor information (SI) indicative of at least one of a position of the at least one sensor (450, 505); a registration fixture (106) having a channel (130) configured to receive at least part of the SSD and defining a registration path (P). The registration fixture may be configured to be attached to a registrant object (RO) (119) defining a workspace. A controller (110) may be configured to: sense a shape of a path traversed by the SSD based upon the SI when the at least one sensor is situated within the channel (130), determine whether the sensed shape of the path corresponds with a known shape selected from one or more known shapes, and perform a coordinate registration based upon the determination.

  • Publication number: 20180338020
Abstract: Systems and methods for gracefully switching to direct connections for devices behind NAT devices are described. One of the methods includes receiving, by a server device logically located behind a first NAT device, a request to establish one or more peer-to-peer connections for providing content from the server device to a client device logically located behind a second NAT device. The method includes providing, by the server device to the client device, a control message for establishing a multiplexed connection under a multiplexed connection protocol, in which the control message is sent to the client device over a first peer-to-peer connection through a first network route including a relay device that is logically located between the first NAT device and the second NAT device. The method includes establishing the multiplexed connection between the client device and the server device, wherein the multiplexed connection includes a plurality of apparently separate and apparently independent connections.

  • Publication number: 20180337886
Abstract: Techniques of gracefully switching to direct connections for devices behind NAT devices are described. A server device behind a first NAT device receives a request to establish one or more peer-to-peer connections with a client device behind a second NAT device. The server device can establish a first peer-to-peer connection with the client device through a relay device that is publicly reachable by both the server device and the client device. The server device negotiates a second peer-to-peer connection with the client device, while the client device downloads content from the server device over the first peer-to-peer connection. The second peer-to-peer connection is on a network route that is different from a route of the first peer-to-peer connection. Once the second peer-to-peer connection is established, the server device and the client device can communicate with one another using the second peer-to-peer connection.

  • Patent number: 10123767
Abstract: An ultrasound system includes a 3D imaging probe and a needle guide which attaches to the probe for guidance of the insertion of multiple needles into a volumetric region which can be scanned by the 3D imaging probe. The needle guide responds to the insertion of a needle through the guide by identifying a plane for scanning by the probe which is the insertion plane through which the needle will pass during insertion. The orientation of the insertion plane is communicated to the probe to cause the probe to scan the identified plane and produce images of the needle as it travels through the insertion plane.

  • Publication number: 20180311749
Abstract: A cutting tool including a body, a blade, a feed shaft, and a locking member. The body defines an axis and is adapted to be received by a spindle of a power tool. The blade is removably supportable on the body and rotatable about the axis for cutting a workpiece. A feed shaft is removably supportable in the body and rotatable about the axis for engaging a workpiece, the feed shaft being mountable in the cutting tool to engage and at least partially restrain the blade. The feed shaft further includes an opening transverse to the axis. The locking member is engageable with the body and with the opening in the feed shaft. Advancement of the locking member into the opening tightens both the blade and the feed shaft to the body.
