  • Patent number: 6595117
Abstract: A cooking appliance which is capable of rapidly toasting a food product disposed therein by air impingement and infrared heating to provide a cooked food product having the desired color and crunchiness about its surface. The appliance is particularly adapted for cooking sandwich products, toasting the bread and heating the sandwich filler. The appliance includes an air impingement assembly that delivers columns of heated air to the food product and an infrared heater assembly that produces infrared energy. The appliance delivers the impingement air from above the food product and the infrared energy from below. Alternatively, the appliance delivers the impingement air from above and below the food product and the infrared energy from below.

Abstract: An antenna support structure has the outward appearance of a palm tree. The antenna support structure has a vertical support pole with an upper portion, an intermediate portion and a lower portion. The lower portion is of a color and texture to resemble the trunk of a palm tree. Disposed outwardly from the intermediate portion is a plurality of antenna receptor members appropriately configured to receive desired electromagnetic signal waves. At the top of the support pole is a plurality of green members having the appearance of new palm fronds. Below the green members are a plurality of drooping members disposed downwardly about the intermediate portion of the support pole and covering the antenna receptor members. The drooping members have colors and textures to resemble a palm tree skirt.

  • Publication number: 20020046406
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for allowing on-demand delivery of data, such as MPEG-2 compressed video data, to a subscriber from a content server. The system utilizes a managed IP network that is coupled to the one or more content servers that allows the content servers to deliver data such as video, audio, and textual data with a guaranteed quality of service that is at least as good as broadcast quality service. The managed IP network is connected to a head end or other local cable service provider where video is delivered locally to subscribers. The IP transport data is translated to MPEG transport data, multiplexed onto an MPEG transport system, digitally modulated onto an rf carrier and up-converted to a specific frequency channel. The signal is then applied to the cable for delivery to the subscriber. Upstream signaling occurs through a set top box or computer that is connected to the cable and subsequently to a digital modulator/demodulator and ISP to a managed IP network 66.

  • Publication number: 20010035957
Abstract: A multifunctional infrared spectrometer system has an interferometer which receives the infrared beam from a source and provides a modulated output beam on beam paths to multiple spatially separated infrared detectors. A multi-position mirror element mounted at a junction position receives the beam on a main beam path and directs it on branch beam paths to sample positions, with the beam then being directed on the branch beam path to one of the detectors. One of the branch beam paths may include a sample holder at the sample position which can index between a position at which a sample is analyzed, to a reference material position, to a pass-through position for calibration purposes.

  • Patent number: 6094655
Abstract: A World Wide Web browser makes requests to web servers on a network which receives and fulfills requests as an agent of the browser client, organizing distributed sub-agents as distributed integration solution (DIS) or intelligent decision server (IDS) servers on an intranet network supporting the web server which also has access agent servers accessible over the Internet. DIS or IDS servers execute selected capsule objects which perform programmable functions upon a received command from a web server control program agent for retrieving, from a database gateway coupled to a plurality of database resources upon a single request made from a Hypertext document, requested information from multiple data bases located at different types of databases geographically dispersed, performing calculations, formatting, and other services prior to reporting to the web browser or to other locations, in a selected format.

  • Patent number: 5951098
Abstract: A truck comprises a motorized body including a chassis and a cab. The cab includes opposed sidewalls, one of which includes an access opening having front and rear edge portions. The door that covers the access opening comprises upper and lower panels. The lower panel is pivotally attached to the front edge portion of the opening to rotate about a first substantially vertical axis of rotation between open and closed positions. The upper panel is hinged to the rear edge portion of the opening to rotate about a second substantially vertical axis of rotation between open and closed positions. The upper and lower panels are sized and configured such that, when each is rotated to its closed position, each spans the opening of the cab, and the upper panel is disposed above the lower panel. In such a configuration, the lower panel can be closed to protect the driver, and the upper panel can be moved to its open position to provide ventilation.

  • Patent number: 5646911
Abstract: A pacing device for a tennis player. The pacer includes a housing within which at least a portion of the pacer is enclosed. The housing is suitable for incorporation into a tennis racket. A read-out is located at an exterior of the housing for displaying information. A timer is positioned within the housing and in communication with the read-out for displaying information generated by the timer. An input device allows a player to program the timer to track a single or variable elapsed period of time.

  • Patent number: 4880985
Abstract: A collimator apparatus is disclosed for directing a high energy electron beam from an accelerator through an exit aperture and through a spaced and non-connected collimator tube in juxtaposition with a target area in a patient. The collimator tube is adjustably positioned and positionally maintained by jig structure supported independently of the accelerator structure. A rod type alignment device is releasably positionable in the collimator tube to define alignment of that tube by a novel method using traditional isocentric motions of a patient couch and accelerator gantry. Collimator tubes of varying diameters and exit configurations may be selectively utilized to accurately conform an electron beam to a particular target area and provide uniform irradiation over that target area.

  • Patent number: 4785178
Abstract: An irradiator, for containment and exposure of a radiation source, that is self-contained and portable. The irradiator provides radiation shielding, physical strength and thermal dissipation to allow transport of a radiation source carried therein without further containment or shielding. A radiator frame carrying a radiation source is lowered below the container for exposure to particularly adapt the device for tunnel irradiation of product from a position thereabove. The radiation preferably source is cesium-137 which provides medium energy gamma radiation adapted particularly for radiation processing and sterilizing of food products with minimal additional shielding requirements.
