Publication number: 20050245318Abstract: The rotary motion created by a motor is transmitted from the drive shaft of the motor to the driven shaft through a pair of diametrically opposed balls fitted into a coupling mechanism attached to the drive shaft and through a pin fitted into holes formed in the opposed balls and through the driven shaft disposed between the opposed balls for eliminating vibration and noise. The thrust loads imposed in the structure supporting the motor is directed to bypass the motor through a bearing supporting the driven shaft through its housing and into the outer housing surrounding the motor. The motor is encased in a cartridge disposed in a central cavity of the outer housing and the cartridge is not rigidly attached to the outer housing so that the thrust loads bypass the motor.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2005Publication date: November 3, 2005Inventors: Eddy Del Rio, Douglas Perry

Patent number: 6746153Abstract: A journal bearing for a high speed surgical drill and/or attachment for rotatably supporting a cutter is made from a polymer of polyimide resin and graphite material and is designed to have a polygon configured bore where there are two point contact of the mating surfaces of the bore walls and cutter's shaft and preferably the bore is square shaped in cross section. This bearing results in a decrease in the envelope size of the support tube and hence, the overall diameter of the surgical instrument at the distal end enhances the line of vision of the cutter to the surgeon when the surgeon is performing surgical procedures. The entrance ends of the intermediate bearings are countersunk to define a ramp to ease the egress of the tool bit shaft for entering the tube of the drill motor or drill attachment during the assembly thereof.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2001Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Assignee: The Anspach Effort, Inc.Inventors: Eddy Del Rio, Jose M. Lamanna, Douglas A. Perry, Thomas E. Anspach

Patent number: 6717876Abstract: A matchline sense circuit for detecting a current on a matchline of a CAM array is disclosed. Matchlines are decoupled from the sense circuit sense node in order to achieve higher sensing speed and improved sense margins. More specifically, a matchline sense circuit sense node receives a reference current, which is high enough to maintain the sense node at the high logic level. This reference current is generated from a dummy pull-down path identical to a memory cell pull-down path to ensure that the reference current tracks with changes to the memory cell current. Matchlines initially at ground potential undergo accelerated precharge up to a preset voltage potential level below VDD to overcome tail-out parasitic current and to minimize the voltage swing of the matchlines for conserving power. During sensing, the matchline current is compared to the reference current, and a latch circuit connected to the sense node provides a full CMOS output signal indicating the result of the comparison.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2002Date of Patent: April 6, 2004Assignee: Mosaid Technologies IncorporatedInventors: Peter Vlasenko, Douglas Perry

Patent number: 6584003Abstract: A low power CAM architecture is disclosed. Matchlines of the CAM array are sequential into a main search portion and a main search portion. After issuing a search command, a main search operation is conducted on the main search portion of the matchline. If the result of the main search is a match, then the main search is subsequently conducted on the main search portion of the matchline. If the result of main search is a mismatch, then the main search is disabled, and consequently there is no power dissipation on the main search portion of the matchlines. Main search and main search operations can be pipelined to maintain high throughput with minimum latency. Power consumption is further reduced by using a matchline sense circuit for detecting a current on the main search and main search portions of the matchline.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2002Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Assignee: Mosaid Technologies IncorporatedInventors: Jin-Ki Kim, Peter Vlasenko, Douglas Perry, Peter B. Publication number: 20020011094Abstract: A method and sensor or sensor subsystem permit improved evaporative leak detection in an automotive fuel system. The sensor or sensor subsystem computes temperature-compensated pressure values, thereby eliminating or reducing false positive or other adverse results triggered by temperature changes in the fuel tank. The temperature-compensated pressure measurement is then available for drawing an inference regarding the existence of a leak with reduced or eliminated false detection arising as a result of temperature fluctuations.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 1998Publication date: January 31, 2002Inventors: JOHN EDWARD COOK, PAUL DOUGLAS PERRY

Patent number: 6192743Abstract: A module for an on-board evaporative emission leak detection system that detects leakage from an evaporative emission space of an automotive vehicle fuel system. A pump disposed within interior space of the module has an inlet in communication with the interior space and a flow passage through which the evaporative emission space is pressurized by the pump. A vent valve within the interior space is selectively operable to a first state that vents the flow passage to the interior space of the module and to a second state that does not vent the flow passage to the interior space. An electromechanical actuator within the interior space operates both the pump and the vent valve. A first lever for operating the pump is mounted for pivotal motion on a wall of the enclosure, and a second lever for operating the vent valve is mounted for pivotal motion on a wall of the enclosure. The material of the parts that provide the pivotal mountings is polymeric.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1999Date of Patent: February 27, 2001Assignee: Siemens Canada LimitedInventor: Paul Douglas Perry
