  • Publication number: 20100131016
Abstract: A system for performing a less invasive surgical procedure and, in particular, devices and methods for spinal fixation. The system comprises dilation tool(s), at least one working/insertion cannula, a plurality of screws, at least one fixation rod for connecting the screws, and a rod inserter. The dilation tool(s) may be used to dilate an incision made in a patient to form an opening. Thereafter, a drill may be used to form holes in the vertebrae. An insertion cannula may be attached to a screw and inserted into the opening. The screws may be polyaxial screws and may be inserted into the vertebrae using a screwdriver. An operator may then move the insertion cannula to manipulate a head portions of the screws such that the head portions may be aligned to receive a fixation rod. A rod inserter may be used to insert a fixation rod into the head portions. After the fixation rod is in place, it may be locked to the screws, thereby fixing the system in place on the spine.

  • Publication number: 20100070226
Abstract: Log chirp testing where a log chirp may be provided to a device under test and a first time domain response from the device under test may be received. The first time domain response may be in the time domain. The first time domain response may be converted to the angular domain to create an angular domain response. Converting to the angular domain response may include resampling the time domain response from the time domain to the angular domain. The angular domain response may be filtered and/or analyzed. The angular domain response may be converted to a second time domain response. Similar to above, the conversion may include resampling the angular domain response from the angular domain to the time domain. The first time domain response and the second time domain response may be analyzed. Testing results of the device under test may be generated and stored based on said analyzing.

  • Patent number: 7677474
Abstract: A sprinkler is disclosed for improved flow characteristics. The sprinkler has a sprinkler head rotatably supported for distributing water and defining a flow channel for directing water flow therethrough with reduced head loss. The flow channel has a smoothly tapered portion for receiving water and channeling the water towards an outlet in communication with a first nozzle for distributing the water. The flow channel with reduced head loss produces a greater throw distance at a lower trajectory with a lower flow rate and pressure. The flow channel may be formed within a flow channel member positioned within the sprinkler head. The flow channel member may cooperate with the sprinkler head to define a cavity allowing water to pass through the cavity from the flow channel for emission from a plurality of other nozzles.

  • Publication number: 20090316159
Abstract: An optical broadband micro-spectrometer containing an input optical assembly, a group of slab waveguide spatial heterodyne spectrometer (SHS) integrated circuits (ICs), a detection module and a processor for multi-line detection. The input optical assembly applies an input light signal uniformly with respect to brightness and frequency to the apertures of the waveguides and may project a pupil image onto the SHS input face and may be a scanner. Each slab waveguide spatial heterodyne spectrometer (SHS) integrated circuit (IC) contains at least one slab waveguide SHS IC. The detection module bonds directly to the slab waveguide output apertures. Each slab waveguide SHS IC may contain one or more slab waveguide SHS.

  • Patent number: 7634683
Abstract: A primary node and a secondary node each run the same J2EE compliant middleware stack comprising layers including a load balancer, a web server, a web application server, a message control server, a monitoring server, and a database control server. In the primary node, all layers are active. In the secondary node, part of the layers are active and part of the layers are in standby. A data replication partition shared between the primary node and the secondary node includes persistent resource data accessible to a selection of the layers of the primary node. A heartbeat controller monitors each node, including the middleware stack, and upon detection of a failure, controls transfer of the services provided by the primary node to the secondary node by transferring virtual IP addresses from the primary node to the secondary node, remounting the data replication partition for access by the secondary node, and activating the standby layers which require access to the data in the data replication partition.

  • Patent number: 7551563
Abstract: A system for routing different data types along different client-to-network connection paths. A connection utility, at the client, monitors a data type being transmitted. When a first data type is being transmitted, the connection utility selects a most optimal (or efficient) connection route for that data type. The connection utility then assigns a next connection route for a second data type with different characteristics and/or routing requirements than the first data type. Differences in routing path that are factored into the criteria for selection include: wired versus wireless, level of security, transfer protocol, connection cost, speed, etc.

  • Publication number: 20090089332
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide a system and method for associating data records in multiple languages within a single hub. As a record comes in from an information source coupled to the hub, it is associated with a particular language at a core layer. The hub maps each language one-to-one to a member type. For each data record of a particular member type, unique derivation code is utilized to perform standardization and bucketing at a derived layer. A weight may be used to balance the richness of languages so that data records in different languages can have the same statistical meaning. Since attributes are standardized with respect to a language of a data record, appropriate languages or script can be passed along with the data record. The hub can then match the data record to the optimum algorithm(s) for entity processing at an entity layer.
