  • Patent number: 10859142
Abstract: A transmission or actuator offering one or more rotational outputs proportionate in speed and direction to that of a common rotational input, each with its own ratio coupled with a controllable dynamic slip/compliance element and optionally either of a one-way bearing or brake preventing back driving. Ratios are continuously variable between positive and negative values, including infinity, varied by mechanical or electromechanical actuators under external or computer control. The transmission may intrinsically integrate multiple partial transmissions for increasing torque capability, rapidly changing between alternate settings, and/or to drive multiple outputs with customizable design. A communicating system of such distributed transmissions forming a hierarchy or network, each transmission driven directly by a motor, indirectly by the output of another transmission, or both, including indirect cumulative forward and back driving throughout the hierarchy or network.

  • Patent number: 10838374
Abstract: For automatic operation of an ergonomic equipment according to dynamic workplace conditions, an activity being performed in a workplace by a person at a first time is determined based on an input from a data processing system. A group is selected corresponding to the activity. An ergonomic policy is modified to form a modified ergonomic policy. The ergonomic policy applies to the activity, and the modification is based on a condition existing in the workplace at the first time of the person performing the activity. Independent of a participation of the person, and when the person is not in compliance with the modified ergonomic policy, an ergonomic control is activated. The ergonomic control causes a change in an ergonomic feature of the ergonomic equipment, the change causing the person to become compliant with the modified ergonomic policy.

  • Publication number: 20200345232
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for wireless communication of analyte data. One such method includes, during a first interval, establishing a first connection between an analyte sensor system and a display device. During the first connection, the method includes exchanging information related to authentication between the analyte sensor system and the display device. The method includes making a determination regarding whether authentication was performed during the first interval. During a second interval, the method may include establishing a second connection between the analyte sensor system and the display device for transmission of an encrypted analyte value, and bypassing the exchanging of information related to authentication performed during the first connection.

  • Publication number: 20200326011
Abstract: Valve systems include a valve and a valve actuator assembly for operating the valve. The valve actuator assembly includes a first motor and a second motor mechanically coupled to an output of the valve actuator assembly via a differential gear system. The first motor, in operation, applies a first torque to the output via the gear system and the second motor, in operation, applies a second torque to the output via the gear system. The first and second torques are used to manipulate the valve. The first and second motors are operated independently or simultaneously in a first direction or a second direction that is opposite the first direction, in order to provide low speed and high torque when the valve is to be seated or unseated, and to provide high speed, low torque when moving the valve along its operational path.

  • Patent number: 10792999
Abstract: A combined force- and temperature-sensing array includes an array of drive plates, an array of sense plates corresponding the drive plates, and a layer of dielectric material separating the drive and sense plates. A diode with a forward junction voltage is connected between at least one of the drive plates and at least one of the sense plates. A multiplexer is operative to select between an electrical pulse or an electrical current for delivery to the at least one drive plate. Circuitry is provided for sensing an applied force resulting from a change in capacitance between the at least one drive plate and the at least one sense plate when the electrical pulse is delivered, and for sensing a temperature resulting from a change in the forward junction voltage of the diode when the current is delivered. The sensor array may be provided as a shoe insert for diabetics with neuropathy.
