  • Patent number: 9271860
Abstract: An orthopedic device has first and second elongate struts each having a strap coupling member, and a flexible strap securing to the first and second struts by the strap coupling members. A semi-rigid and resiliently bendable expander is connected to and spans a predetermined length between the struts. The expander provides two main configurations for the orthopedic device including maintaining the first and second struts in a generally flat configuration relative to one another and a curved configuration upon application of a load on the first and second struts. The expander reverts to a flat configuration upon removal of a load or from the first and second struts.

  • Publication number: 20160015121
Abstract: An Achilles heel wedge has a front part, a back part, and a longitudinal axis extending in a longitudinal direction between the front part and the back part. A first wedge section defines a bottom surface and a top surface. The top surface of the first wedge section forms a convex portion curving along the longitudinal axis and extending between side portions of the first wedge section. The convex portion is positionable under the longitudinal arch of a user's foot during use. A second wedge section is removably attachable to the bottom surface of the first wedge section. The second wedge section defines substantially parallel top and bottom surfaces and a ramped edge at or near a front of the second wedge section. The ramped edge extends downwardly and forwardly relative to the first wedge section and the top surface of the second wedge section.

  • Publication number: 20150366736
Abstract: A CPM device includes a support structure arranged to be removably attached to an articulating brace supporting a limb and a joint of a user. One or more rotating members are rotatably connected to the support structure. The rotating members are adapted to contact and roll on an underlying surface that is separate from the CPM device. At least one motor is arranged to apply a torque to the rotating members such that the rotating members roll on the underlying surface. The rolling of the rotating members on the underlying surface causes the support structure to translate over the underlying surface, which, in turn, conveys a bending force to the joint.

  • Publication number: 20150335458
Abstract: A patellofemoral brace or support has a main substrate, a hinge located on at least one of the lateral and medial sides, and a support system coupled to the main substrate and the hinge. The support system has a compression element removably securable over the main substrate and a cable having a first end anchored to a pivoting element connected to the hinge and a second end anchored to the compression element. The cable engages the hinge such that articulation of the hinge from an extension position to a flexion position pulls the compression element toward the hinge to exert a generally medial force over the main substrate.

  • Patent number: 9180038
Abstract: A walker having height adjustment, and a method of use thereof, generally includes a base. Length adjustable strut assemblies are provided to allow the walker to be converted between a fully extended configuration, a high top walker configuration, and a fully retracted, low top walker configuration, as well as to numerous configurations having incremental heights between the fully extended and the fully retracted configurations. Thus, a modular support is provided that can be used to provide different levels of immobilization and can be used for various therapeutic purposes, can accommodate different patient leg lengths with one device, and allows practitioners to carry a reduced inventory.
