  • Patent number: 5153232
Abstract: A polyurea elastomer foam is disclosed. Specifically, the polyurea foam of this invention includes an (A) component including an isocyanate and a (B) component including (1) a primary amine terminated polyoxyalkylene polyol, (2) a chain extender, (3) water employed as the sole blowing agent and (4) a surfactant employed as a foam stabilizer. The polyurea foam of this invention is characterized as a rigid, closed cell foam.

  • Patent number: 5124426
Abstract: A pourable and/or sprayable polyurea elastomer is disclosed. The elastomer includes an isocyanate, an amine terminated polyoxyalkylene polyol, and a chain extender. The isocyanate is preferably a quasi-prepolymer of an isocyanate and a material selected from at least one polyol, a high molecular weight polyoxyalkyleneamine or a combination thereof. The chain extender includes at least di(methylthio)-toluene diamine. A method for improving the flowability of a polyurea elastomer, thereby permitting the elastomer to be sprayed or, optionally, poured, is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5082917
Abstract: A polyurea elastomer is disclosed. The chain extender includes a minor amount of a tetraalkylpiperazine and a major amount of diethyltoluenediamine. A one-step method of making the tetraalkylpiperazine and tetraalkylpiperazinone is also disclosed. The method includes reacting a 2-amino-2-alkyl-1-alkanol in the presence of a nickel-iron-copper-manganese catalyst.

  • Patent number: 5013813
Abstract: A polyurea elastomer which exhibits a rapid dry time is disclosed. The elastomer includes an isocyanate, an amine terminated polytetrahydrofuran and a chain extender. The isocyanate is preferably a quasi-prepolymer of an isocyanate and a material selected from at least one polyol, a high molecular weight polyoxyalkyleneamine or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 4891086
Abstract: A process for polymer coating of narrow strands, for example, wires with a polymer, is disclosed whereby a rapidly reacting polymer formulation is sprayed onto the narrow strands whereupon it hardens in a very short period of time and another layer of strands is then placed atop the first which have now been coated with the polymer and a second layer of polymer formulation is sprayed on these strands, etc. The polymer formulation used comprises amine terminated polyethers of greater than 1500 average molecular weight, having greater than 50% of their average hydrogens in the form of amine hydrogens, a chain extender and an aromatic polyisocyanate.
