  • Publication number: 20130167228
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices that secure data on removable storage devices are presented. A token component can interface with a communication port on a host device. One or more removable storage devices can interface with one or more other communication ports on the host device. The token component includes a security component that, when interfaced with the host device, is employed to automatically and simultaneously enable access, encrypt data being stored in, and decrypt data being retrieved from the removable storage devices. When the token component is not interfaced with the host device, the removable storage devices are secured so that they cannot be accessed and data stored thereon cannot be retrieved and decrypted. A user optionally can utilize a password, which can be entered when the token component is interfaced with the host device, to facilitate controlling access to the removable storage devices and data encryption/decryption.

  • Publication number: 20130165500
Abstract: The present invention relates to compounds, compositions, and methods for the study, diagnosis, and treatment of traits, diseases and conditions that respond expressed/synthetic to the modulation of PHD2 gene expression and/or activity, and/or modulate a beta-catenin gene expression pathway. Specifically, the invention relates to double-stranded nucleic acid molecules including small nucleic acid molecules, such as short inter-fering nucleic acid (siNA), short interfering RNA (siRNA), double-stranded RNA (dsR-NA), micro-RNA (miRNA), and short hair-pin RNA (shRNA) molecules that are capa-ble of mediating or that mediate RNA inter-ference (RNAi) against PHD2 gene expres-sion.

  • Publication number: 20130152632
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a vitreous slag including rotating a cone about a vertical cone axis, the cone including an external shell having a lateral surface; cooling the lateral surface of the external shell; pouring molten slag onto the lateral surface of the cone to form a film of slag by gravity, which is solidified as it is entrained in rotation by the cone about the cone axis; and detaching pieces of the film from the lateral surface and removing solidified slag in the form of the pieces after the film has been entrained through between 0.6 and 0.9 revolutions of the cone, the molten slag being poured onto the lateral surface in a pouring zone and spreads to form a film over substantially the entire length of the lateral surface, preferably over between 75% and 95% of the length of the lateral surface.

  • Publication number: 20130153670
Abstract: A code is applied to a part of the retail item or its packaging/label. The code is applied in a repeat pattern. The code is presented in an optical machine-readable format. Code markers are arranged at pre-defined positions within a matrix. An optical machine-readable orientation device indicates the correct orientation of the matrix, so that the position of the code markers within the correctly orientated matrix corresponds to a pre-defined sequence of code integers. The code corresponds to an existing barcode number for the retail item. The code is presented in a manner discreet enough to be part of the printed design of a label or packaging for the retail item, without changing the overall appearance of the printed design.

  • Publication number: 20130159564
Abstract: A method for performing direct memory access includes obtaining, by a application executing on a host, a kernel address space identifier of a first driver kernel memory. The application sends the kernel address space identifier to a second device driver. The second device driver obtains, using the kernel address space identifier, a cookie structure binding the first driver kernel memory to a second device driver address space for the first driver kernel memory. The application sends a request for a direct memory access operation. The request includes a location identifier of a location storing a data object in the first driver kernel memory. Based on the cookie structure, the second device driver performs, using the location identifier, the direct memory access operation to transfer the data object from the first driver kernel memory to a second driver kernel memory.

  • Publication number: 20130156376
Abstract: We present optical systems suitable for focusing two substantially collimated beams or sheets of light propagating in different directions onto a common focal point. In some embodiments the optical systems comprise separate focusing elements for each beam or sheet of light, while in other embodiments the optical systems comprise a focusing element and a redirection element. The optical systems have particular application in the receive optics of infrared touch screens, where they enable the detection of additional light paths that assist in the determination of two or more simultaneous touch events.

  • Patent number: 8467175
Abstract: In accordance with the present disclosure, a system and method for an optimizable rack solution is presented. The system and method is directed to an optimizable rack that includes a frame. The frame has both a primary portion and a detachable portion. The primary portion may contain a primary enclosure and the detachable portion may container a secondary enclosure. Each of the primary enclosure and secondary enclosure are sized to hold a plurality of computing systems. Detaching the detachable portion of the frame both reduces the size and computing systems capacity of the frame.

  • Patent number: 8467290
Abstract: Network elements in IMS or other SIP systems are configured to pre-authenticate SIP requests either as proxy or by snooping. One or more of these network elements are pre-loaded with a local database copy of the user profiles as typically contained in the HSS inside of the IMS control structures. A master database, such as the one typically contained in the HSS, is distributed to all network elements using database distribution methods. Advantageously, pre-authentication solves bottleneck issues in the SIP mechanism by allowing an end user device to use fully authenticated SIP requests. This prevents the requirement to perform authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) all the way back to the core IMS network, alleviating lag and scaling issues. Additionally, network elements including can become aware of the services requested through SIP requests, and track these requests for optimization. Specifically, resources requested based upon SIP requests can be cached.
