  • Publication number: 20180188803
Abstract: Context aware backlighting techniques include determining a focal point of a display space based on a user display context. The user display context represents an area of interest on the monitor. The user display context can be based on eye tracking data, ambient light data, motion sensing data, cursor location in the display space, an image content, proximity data, or the like and any combination thereof. A first set of one or more of a plurality of backlight sections corresponding to the determined focal point of the display space can be driven to output at a first intensity level, while a second set of one or more of the plurality of backlight sections can be driven to output at a second intensity level.

  • Patent number: 9823804
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, a system, and a computer program product for configuring a Web portal for a computer-based application using one or more menus available in the computer-based application. It comprises classifying the menus available in the application according to the functionalities. The menus classified under each functionality are configured in a hierarchical structure for presenting on the Web portal corresponding to the functionality. A context bar is defined for the Web portal by defining at least one context element. Thereafter, mapping is defined for at least one field of one or more menus presented under the Web portal with one of the at least one context element. The mapping allows auto-filling of fields of an invoked menu with the value of the mapped context element, thereby reducing the manual effort of a user.

  • Patent number: 9720778
Abstract: Systems and methods for backing up data associated with storage area network (SAN) data stores connected to a backup device over a SAN such that the backup is performed without using a local area network (LAN). The systems and methods include receiving a snapshot of a virtual machine (VM), the VM being associated with a VM datastore disk, which is further associated with a unique ID. The unique ID associated with the VM datastore disk is compared with a unique ID associated with a disk available on the computing device. When the unique ID associated with the VM datastore disk matches the unique ID associated with the disk on the computing device, the disk on the computing device with the matching unique ID is opened for reading, and data from the opened disk is copied to a copy data storage pool over a storage area network.

  • Publication number: 20170075919
Abstract: Disclosed are examples of systems, apparatus, methods and computer program products for sharing and publishing files. In one aspect, the database system can maintain a user database, a file database and a library. The database system can receive a first request initiated by a first user to share a first file with one or more second users and, responsive to the first request, enable a second set of one or more permissions for each of the second users. The database system also can receive a second request initiated by the first user to publish the first file to the library and, responsive to the second request, publish the first file to the library. The database system additionally can restrict access to the published file based on permissions associated with the library.

  • Patent number: 9568669
Abstract: The specification describes multimode optical fibers with specific design parameters, i.e., controlled refractive index design ratios and dimensions, which render the optical fibers largely immune to moderately severe bends. The modal structure in the optical fibers is also largely unaffected by bending, thus leaving the optical fiber bandwidth essentially unimpaired. Bend performance results were established by DMD measurements of fibers wound on mandrels vs. measurements of fibers with no severe bends. Additional embodiments of the present invention describe an improved optical link when the inventive multimode fiber is connected to standard or conventional multimode fibers.

  • Publication number: 20170034355
Abstract: The use of devices, such as Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) devices, enables a user on a call to have the connection seamlessly transition from one network to another. However, a call that is disconnected, either pre-answer or post-answer, leaves the calling party without information as to why the call was disconnected. Herein, systems and signaling methods are provided whereby a reason for a disconnect can be created and passed to the calling party, such as in a text message, to inform the caller of the disconnect reason. Additionally, the reason may be provided to the called party's voicemail. The call server may then connect the calling party to the voicemail and, with the reason code, the voicemail server is able to announce the reason for the disconnect and provide the calling party the opportunity to leave a message for the called party. The called party, when available, may then be presented with the voicemail.

  • Patent number: 9515708
Abstract: A method, a system, and a server provide context aware multiple-input-multiple-output MIMO antenna systems and methods. Specifically, the systems and methods provide, in a multiple MIMO antenna or node system, techniques of antenna/beam selection, calibration, and periodic refresh, based on environmental and mission context. The systems and methods can define a context vector as built by cooperative use of the nodes on the backhaul to direct antennas for the best user experience as well as mechanisms using the context vector in a 3D employment to point the antennas in a cooperative basis therebetween. The systems and methods utilize sensors in the nodes to provide tailored context sensing versus motion sensing, in conjunction with BER (Bit Error Rate) measurements on test signals to position an antenna beam from a selection of several “independent” antenna subsystems operating within a single node, as well as, that of its optically connected neighbor.

  • Patent number: 9229895
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods and storage media associated with integrated circuits (IC) or system-on-chips (SOC) are disclosed herein. In embodiments, a multi-core IC may include a number of central processing units (CPUs), and a number of input/output (I/O) resources. The IC may further include a switch fabric configured to couple the CPUs with the I/O resources, and a register to be selectively configured to exclusively couple one of the CPUs with one of the I/O resources to form a logical domain that computationally isolates the one CPU and the one I/O resource from other CPUs and other I/O. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 9075183
Abstract: Optical fiber designs are depicted with a core having an alpha profile inner portion and a steep vertical step between the core and a cladding with no shoulder, referred to herein as a truncated core. A further aspect of this invention can include a trench between the truncated core and cladding. In this embodiment, the core performs as not only as the primary light guiding structure, but now also functions essentially the same as that of a trench structure. Thus, what was formally a trench can now be much less negative or even positive. Another embodiment of the present invention includes an optical fiber having a truncated core with the addition of a ledge or shoulder between the core and vertical step, followed directly by a cladding.
