  • Patent number: 8091000
Abstract: An apparatus and methods are disclosed herein for identifying and avoiding attempts to access a defective portion of memory. Errors associated with portions of memory, such as a cache memory, are tracked over time enabling detection of both hard and erratic errors. Based on the number of errors tracked over time for a portion of memory, it is determined if the portion of memory is defective. In response to determining portion of memory is defective, the portion of memory is disabled. The portion of memory may be flushed and moved before being disable. Additionally, disabling the portion of memory may be conditioned upon determining if it is allowable to disable the portion of memory.

  • Publication number: 20110292839
Abstract: A method of forwarding a call based on media attributes of the call in a telecommunications network is disclosed. The call forwarding services includes call forwarding based on SDP attributes, media-based partial call forwarding and partial call forwarding to multiple destinations. The method comprises comparing parameters of SDP with call forwarding parameter of the user, obtaining a match between one of the SDP parameters and the call forwarding parameters, sending a REFER message in case of partial call forwarding, multiple REFER messages in case of partial call forwarding to multiple destinations to network of calling user, and forwarding the call to other terminals as specified in the call forwarding parameters. The call forwarding based on media attributes enables a served user to forward communications based on media attributes conveyed over SDP for an IMS/SIP user.

  • Publication number: 20110243519
Abstract: Optical fiber designs are depicted with a core having an alpha profile inner portion and a steep vertical step between the core and a cladding with no shoulder, referred to herein as a truncated core. A further aspect of this invention can include a trench between the truncated core and cladding. In this embodiment, the core performs as not only as the primary light guiding structure, but now also functions essentially the same as that of a trench structure. Thus, what was formally a trench can now be much less negative or even positive. Another embodiment of the present invention includes an optical fiber having a truncated core with the addition of a ledge or shoulder between the core and vertical step, followed directly by a cladding.

  • Patent number: 8024594
Abstract: Disclosed is a method, apparatus and computer program product for reducing memory power consumption in a server system. The server system includes a memory controller and a plurality of Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMMs). The method for reducing the memory power consumption includes determining a status of a channel of a plurality of channels of the memory controller. The plurality of channels is associated with the plurality of DIMMs of the server system. The status of the channel represents a presence of at least one scheduled transaction in the channel. The method further includes monitoring the status of the channel by checking whether the status of the channel is in an idle mode for a period of at least equal to a first threshold time. Thereafter, the method includes driving the channel into a power down state based on the monitoring of the status of the channel.

  • Patent number: 7761538
Abstract: Computing systems can be dynamically configured, allocated, and deployed based on user requirements. For example, a user can request a number of servers for dynamic configuration, allocation, and deployment. Embodiments provide a quick and efficient way for users to test code and programs, debug code and programs, and/or perform other configuration and testing operations using one or more computing systems, such as a cluster of servers. Reserved systems are dynamically configured with necessary code and/or content according to user requirements. The reserved cluster of systems can be returned to an available pool once a reservation expires, allowing the returned systems to be used for a subsequent reservation.

  • Patent number: 7725757
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention includes a counter to count core clocks, where the counter has a value to be incremented from zero to one less than a first bus ratio. Coupled to the counter may be a control logic to generate a control signal to change from the first bus ratio to a second bus ratio, where the control logic is coupled to receive the counter value and control the counter based on this value. In this way, the bus ratio can change without draining the transaction queues of a processor. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20100067858
Abstract: The specification describes multimode optical fibers with specific design parameters, i.e., controlled refractive index design ratios and dimensions, which render the optical fibers largely immune to moderately severe bends. The modal structure in the optical fibers is also largely unaffected by bending, thus leaving the optical fiber bandwidth essentially unimpaired. Bend performance results were established by DMD measurements of fibers wound on mandrels vs. measurements of fibers with no severe bends.

  • Publication number: 20090214769
Abstract: Adverse hydrogen aging limitations in multiply-doped optical fibers are overcome by passivating these optical fibers using a deuterium passivation process. This treatment essentially pre-reacts the glass with deuterium so that the most active glass sites are no longer available to react with hydrogen in service. Optical fibers of main interest are doped with mixtures of germanium and phosphorus. Optimum passivating process conditions are described.
